Mormon Church: Now Recruiting Women Straight Out of High School!

The Lord needs more volunteers...Pronto!
In a move that proves the harvest is ripe, or maybe that conversion numbers could use a little boost, the Mormon church has just dropped the mission age for women from the geriatric 19 down to the fresh-faced 18, effective immediately!
So, pack your bags, ladies! Your opportunity to spend approximately two years knocking on doors and bothering people on Facebook (and probably learning how to budget on rice and beans) starts right after graduation. Who needs college acceptance letters when you can receive the ultimate acceptance letter -an all-expenses-not-quite-paid opportunity to politely pester strangers about golden plates.

I read the article, but I didn't see anything about length of service for Sisters being increased from a year-and-a-half to two years, like the Elders. Did I miss something?

Should have said "18 months" or "approximately 2 years."

What is the reasoning behind sister missionaries missing out on the blessings of a full 2 year mission?

Mormon girls (not jail bait) knocking on our door? Bring it on!
Hey little girl, would you like some candy or cake?

QUESTION: How many young women has Dallin Oaks secretly molested with his eyes?
ANSWER: OMFG!

The men get the full two years to ensure they have enough time to fill their journals with faith promoting stories of trials, angels, fighting Satan, endurance, courage and spiritual strength. The women only get 18 months because they need to be home earlier to start listening to those stories ever single week in church, for the rest of their lives.

On the thread about about LDS Youth I posted some forecasting that linked the number of missionaries to the birth rate. It seems to track the trajectory. So it is being predicted that missionary numbers are due to fall because the birth rate declined from 2008. The Church will see the stats so this agre reduction will create a two year bubble that keeps the numbers up. Albeit temporarily.
