Nostalgia

Prompted by some of the (off-topic) back and forth starting around p28 on the God can write straight with crooked lines thread, and not very coherent memories of NOM, FLAK, and earlier incarnations of this board, I wondered if anyone else was feeling nostalgic.

I have some memories that are probably best re-buried, but some really fond ones too. Some posters were incredibly kind to me in the early days of my disaffection, and provided me with more comfort than I could ever express.

I came across a couple of DMs from Nurse in Black, Kate Hepburn, Sacred Sister, and the incomparable Dathon, and realised the extent to which I was drowning back then, mostly due to being married to a TBM and having no idea how things were going to work out - or if they were. I'm happy to say that we have more than survived, but it was iffy for a while.

Was it Belaja who wielded the "FU" stick? She is someone else I have reason to be grateful to.

What about Mel and Korihor? Solistics? Froggie? Lots of others too. Whenever I make banana bread, I use Froggie's recipe!

Soft spot forever for Froggie. Alas? Not so much. But definitely Froggie. And also Ann. I forgot all the names. The woman with eye cancer? She passed away. Called her the one I love after the extraction. Good times and good people. The entire core of people that started Faces East. All of them were great. Good, good, good people.

Kevin Graham, cksalmon, Chris Smith, beastie, Blixa, all great reads, among many others.

When I first discovered the LDS boards, Kerry Shirts was posting on the MADD board as an apologist.

Blixa always had the shoes and the purses, right?

She had drawings at one point if I remember right, and very meticulous with text.

She might have had shoes and purses, I wouldn't be surprised, but, she was the one poster the Hound account could call a Marxist and be right, as she had a Phd in it.

I forget all the avatars and names. The woman in New Mexico. Her husband was a lawyer. She had a house full of bloodhounds. Lots of daughters. One son. She was a damn riot. And I can't remember her fake name on here. Always had a picture of a woman's ass in a black dress. She was also on Cherry, NOM and here.

So many stories. So many.

Yes!

If I recall correctly, both Kevin's and Kerry's apologetics foundered on the rocks of the Book of Abraham. I don't recall - was Shulem ever an apologist?

I remember reading an exchange between Paul and someone in which Paul was defending the Book of Abraham. I can’t remember who was taking the opposing view but it was a very interesting exchange. Paul even had a webpage if I remember right. So yeah, he was.
