Seeking the Spirit’s Guidance On Whether To Ruin Brother Garcia’s Life

For I hungered, and ye gave Me meat; I was thirsty, and ye gave Me drink; I was a stranger, and ye took Me in. -- Matthew 25:35

LDS Freedom Forum boasts over 5,000 active participants. In a recent OP, a poster named Pnwlivesmatter discusses his dilemma about whether he should have ICE deport a poor Guatemalan family that recently moved into his Ward.

The OP and the comments that follow, are a stark reminder that for many Mormons, the stranger isn't someone to be welcomed, but someone to be forcibly removed.

From the OP:
Am a terrible person if I report some illegal members in my ward to ICE?
Post by Pnwlivesmatter » January 14th, 2026, 10:08 pm

There a new family in my ward, dirt poor from guatamala.

One of them bore a testimony about all the trials they had (in Spanish of course needed to be translated) getting to america in early 2024 in a caravan and going across the Mexican border at night in the desert undetected.

Anyways they have barely anything to their name and the ward is bending over backwards to help them.

The liberal members in my ward would call me cruel and evil for doing such a thing. On the other hand they committed a criminal offense crossing the border. If I committed a crime my stake high council likely calls me to a court of love to face church discipline but a family commits a crime crossing a border and they are welcomed with open arms and taken care of.

Who is wrong here? Am I not enforcing the 12th article of faith? Or would this be cruel and evil.
Some revealing comments:
Well, there are no legitimate reasons for a person to come to the United States illegally, with no money, job skills, or even ability to speak the language. Their only hope of survival is to continue to be a criminal and lie, cheat, and steal, everyday for the rest of their life. They breed like mice and pop out little socialists to destroy whatever the parent did not. They have no ability to solve problems or they would have solved the problems where they came from.
In my mind you are a terrible person if you don't report them. Our country is quite literally being invaded by a foreign enemy, this has been going on since Hart-Celler. They bank on the sympathy of the white man. We desperately need to fix this issue, they should be deported, posthaste!
I would counsel them to go back to Guatemala. But I would not report them to the police.
Are you willing to trade your identity and prosperity to an illegal family for their identity and poverty? Because you are condemning another American and their family to that consequence when you support illegal immigration.
They are Illegal. That is a crime. We are supposed to uphold the law. If people want them to stay, why have they never changed the law? I think some want them to be disruptive and bring down our country. They receive so many benefits that citizens don't.
Is encouraging your neighbor to commit crimes Christian?
It is not Christlike to assist criminals in further criminal activity. Only haters of God, freedom, and humanity would assist criminals in destroying the country that God set aside as the Promised land.
God wants people segregated. He even assigned vastly different genetics to each race. He even gave different IQ ranges to each race. He even designated a vast difference in the number of words in a language to limit or expand their communication abilities. He even made them different colors so they could be recognized at a distance.
Black people do have better physical genetics than white people for certain sports, that's for sure. Kelvin Kiptum is a pretty amazing athlete. The dude almost broke the 2 hr marathon time in a sanctioned marathon. On a closed course with pacers, he broke the 2 hr mark.
Illegal immigration is almost always a double crime.

1. Crossing the border illegally (lesser crime)
2. Identity theft (The greater crime)

They trade their poor life in their home country for a more prosperous one in America. That requires stealing an American identity (social security number, tax refund, etc.) and condemning the American victim to the poor life they left.

We should kick them out just as fast.
There is no good in them. There is no evil that they will not do. Like all socialists, which are of the devil, they want things that they did not earn. Like the scumbags that believe in DEI, they believe that they can simply take what they want.

Every day of their life is spent in evil. They commit a crime by crossing our border. They steal welfare and food stamps which they are not supposed to get. They have nothing to offer. They have no skills. Their strong point is their worship of satan.

There should be a $500 bounty on them. Collectible at any police station. This would solve the problem quickly.
The democrats lured into the U.S. tens of millions of people who will largely support democrat policies and, even if they don't participate directly in election fraud, they will distort the political process through redistricting. Our country is in a very real way being taken out from under us, and the left wants us to feel bad for not being okay with that.
Liberal baby killers calling us immoral and unchristian for wanting to send lawbreakers back to their Homeland
it's not our fault that these nations south of us are shlt holes
It's not about them being good workers and nice people....

It's about them not assimilating... It's about them opening our borders further by voting in these Marxist psychopaths who don't want borders
I would by far prefer to live in a majority white country
If we are calling ice about illegals, who are literally breaking the law, then how is this different than reporting anyone else who is breaking the law?
The Beast initiated the great replacement. The beast wants to take down the borders. The beast wants American to be like them... Undeveloped third worlders who vote to take from the rich and give to the poor

The Beast is why we have an illegal immigration population that is greater than the size of Canada
God does not allow illegal immigration between Kingdoms. Do not try to make it sound like a good thing to be Satanic.
They knew that crossing our border was a criminal offense. So they are not only of zero value to anyone, they are also a criminal.

Anyone that helps them in any way is furthering the destruction of this country. They occupy a residence that a good person could live in. They beg for food, but have nothing to compensate.

No one should make them feel welcome. They are the scum of the earth. Anyone saying anything good about them is a liar. Otherwise, their entire day would be spent attempting to do something for someone that resulted in payment.
The challenge here is that some people come here and want to overthrow the Constitution… or, better said, they want to use the right to vote when they gain majority and change the Constitution.
It is not Nazi for us to make these people go back to their home.
The Laws were established by the early settlers for a reason. I have seen several videos of Mexicans who went through what they needed to to gain citizenship and they do NOT like it when others cross illegally.
So many other countries are ruthless when you don't follow their laws but think it's fine to screw ours.
If you went to their country without any money or job prospect, would you expect their government to house and feed you for free? So what is the difference? Absolutely nothing, not a damn thing.

So why is it that these wastes of human flesh have to beg anyway? Do they have no job skills? Do they even speak English? Are they too lazy to attempt to do anything productive? What possible reason did they have to come here except to be a parasite? Do they spend every daylight hour seeking employment? If not, why not?
If squatters started living on your lawn – or even worse – inside your house, would you be a bad person for getting them removed?
Supporting this family to stay and brake more laws encourage others to follow in their footsteps.

Encouraging this illegal immigration supports the cartels, coyotes, drug traffickers, human traffickers, etc. It also increases a lot of suffering, rapes, etc. for those trying to come illegally.

How can one morally justify supporting those things?
The % of white population in America.
It needs to change now honestly. Like right now.

1920: 89.7%
1930: 89.8%
1940: 89.8%
1950: 89.5%
1960: 88.6%
1970: 87.5%
1980: 83.1%
1990: 80.3%
2000: 75.1%
2010: 72.4%
2020: 61.6%
2025: 59.8% (est)

This was all by design.

Insane
They broke many of God's laws.
Each of their moves was a violation of truth and righteousness. Their sole purpose in life is to lie, cheat, and steal. They are disciples of Satan. It is their extreme devotion to Satan that justifies their extreme hatred of God. Every day of their life is crime ridden. Thou shalt not steal. So they flip God the bird and steal. Thou shalt not kill. So they set about killing Americans and their way of life. They are incredibly selfish and have zero charity which totally eliminates them from heaven. Having spent their entire life in the destruction of mankind, they are blasphemous to even pretend to be a Christian. All of their deeds are done by deception. Having decided in the pre-existence to follow Satan with a body, it was no accident that they were born where they were. Being the parasites that devour the Americans does not make them good people. They are low IQ people typically reserved for third world countries. God allows these disciples of Satan to destroy in order to foment the destruction of the entire world. God did not do it. They hate God. God allowed it.

I was struck noticing that a couple or more folks thought the alien made some American poor like the alien was before. Somehow by staying the alien is taking somebody's life and money.

Strange fears like that perhaps explain a lot.

That’s the message right wing media has pushed for decades. The Marxists took your stuff and gave it to illegal aliens.

He should not report them to ICE, but rather find ways to help them and be a friend to them instead.

Their answer to "what would Jesus do?" is a bit different from yours, and mine, and (I believe) pretty much every participating member of this board.

The quotes Everybody Wang Chung gave are horrifying.

I’m willing to wager that the people Everybody Wang Chung quotes in the OP are not the descendants of native Americans. Which suggests self awareness isn’t a super power for them.

I suppose this bears repeating:

“The worst enemy of a poor person is another poor person who thinks he is rich and who defends those who make them poor.”

— Pepe Mujica

Now, imagine if the person who said that wasn’t a humble servant of the people, but a prophet of the Lord:

“The worst enemy of a poor person is another poor person who thinks he is rich and who defends those who make them poor.”

— Dallin H. Oaks

When a foreigner resides among you in your land, you shall not oppress him. The foreigner who resides with you shall be to you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself. Were not Joseph, Mary, and baby Jesus immigrants in Egypt?

“I’d send them back straight to Herod because they’re criminals!”

- Those Mormons

Where does this weird idea come from that a dirt-poor family from Guatemala comes to the US to steal stuff?

The overwhelming majority of these people are desperate to find honest work, and there are plenty of nice rich Americans who (from farmers to builders and people who want their house cleaned) who are delighted to employ them for wages that to the employers are dirt cheap, but to the immigrants are all they need and more.

Poor things. They are LDS, and they think that if they bear their testimony in chapel, their fellow disciples of Jesus will help them find work and generally back them up as they try to make a start in life, and pay their own way.

If what Jesus said is true, it seems that some of the people who answered that post will find themselves looking up at him as he sits on a big throne, and he asks them "That time I brought my family to your town, all of us decent religious people, ready to work hard for next to nothing, why did you turn me in to the ICE agents"?

The answer "No, Lord, that was just some Guatemalan illegals" will be met with the firm response "Like I told you in that book you keep reading: Turning them into the ICE agents was just the same as turning me in". And the rest we know...

As a non-LDS Christian the following would be in my mind:

- Scripture says we are obligated to obey the laws of the land
- Church discipline is in order for unrepentant sinners that are continuing in a lifestyle of continued sin
- Perhaps attempting to aid the family in gaining citizenship
- Perhaps helping the family to leave the country to a legally and safe place, while providing support, and assisting them in gaining citizenship.

I anticipate that someone will now ask me if this is sin (‘cause you know some here can’t help themselves), and I’d have to say that breaking the laws of the land does make one a law breaker. Lawbreaking often results in consequences. Jesus was more concerned about the heart.

In a church that is worldwide, perhaps the church or her members, could aid this family in relocating to a place where they are not breaking laws, and assisting with providing for their physical needs until they are able to sustain themselves.
