Minnesota members feel Church leaders have deserted them

Post by I Have Questions »

“The individual,” he said, “who gave me a ride home from church this past Sunday was sort of scratching his head and saying, ‘Why hasn’t the leadership in Salt Lake said something about this?”

Top leaders at church headquarters have not spoken out directly on the clashes in Minnesota.

Dave Sandberg, who lives and attends church in a suburb just west of the city, noted that Latter-day Saint higher-ups haven’t been totally silent.
This is a moral issue, not a political one, so they have no excuse for failing to step up, failing to stand for something, failing to lead. Silence on the matter is tantamount to support for it.
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.

Thanks for the link, IHQ. Worth reading.

It's good to see that members are taking some initiative to do something, while the Area Seventy calls for an "interfaith fast".

The leadership in salt lake is likely busy switching their investment portfolio from tech stocks to silver and gold futures.

I’d ask that member to think very carefully here and give an example of anything his leaders have ever done to benefit him and his family or anyone else. He talks like his leaders have a track record of benefiting the world to maintain.

Once again they are caught in their own trap. They have to say they value piece and understanding and all that- but a large percentage of their membership are 100% in favor of the brutality from ICE. So the can't say anything.

You asked. Now you know.

That was my thought. In contrast to the Catholic Church, which speak out on the moral implication of significant events, the church’s leadership rarely speaks out on events that do not directly and specifically affect the church. See Gay marriage.
