It is intentional. It isn't coming from a place of a sincere wish to have any kind of good faith conversation.
Not true.

Actual reality?

MG
Not wishful fantasy.

Yes, reality. Not wishful fantasy.

Fix your quote. Wishful fantasy are your words.

Location: Often overlooked, painter Maria Marcus passed away this year. Self-Portrait in Dunes (1979). RIP.

Thanks for your response, Morley. I will let my words stand as they are. You are free, of course, to take any interpretive position you would like to.

MG

I don't come around here very often, but Jesus H. Christ this sounds mental, gymnast, when compared to actual reality.

I agree. Mentalgymnast will just quote back the LDS position without any willingness to have a conversation re whether the aspects of the interview actually match Gilbert's documented history, or to use the mentalgymnastic term, "actual reality."

The actual reality is that Gilbert's interview answers are very different from his past behavior. If he believed what he did in the past was right, why is he trying to hide or change it now?

My mistake. I think religious folk live in a wishful fantasy and that is alright if they would keep it to themselves.

And that’s the point. MG can only point to Gilbert’s words in a stage managed PR interview. Everyone else can point to an extensive track record of his actions. Gilbert’s hypocrisy is glaringly obvious, that he can say what he did in that interview with a straight face suggests he’ll get along well with the hardliners.
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.
