Most Mormons would vote for Trump in another election

Post by I Have Questions »

Staggeringly, despite his criminal convictions and abhorrent behaviour, most LDS in Utah overwhelmingly would vote for Trump again. A new poll found
Ultimately, there is no litmus test that can replace voting — and the Overton poll asks about this, too, giving respondents a chance to say whom they would vote for if the 2024 election were held today. Here, the responses between Latter-day Saints and non-Latter-day Saints are about as stark as they get.

In all, 58% of Latter-day Saints say they would vote for Trump, compared to 40% of non-Latter-day Saints.

In contrast, 19% of Latter-day Saints say they would vote for Democratic nominee Kamala Harris. For all other respondents in Utah, that number is 44%.

Finally, 22% of Latter-day Saints say they would cast ballots for someone besides these two candidates, 7 percentage points more than the rest of those polled.

The news isn’t all good for the current president, however. While still a majority, the 58% of Utah Latter-day Saints who would vote for him today is 10 percentage points lower than those who say they punched his ticket in 2024, a hair lower than the 66% of Latter-day Saints who did so nationally.

“That means there is a 10-point ‘hold your nose and vote’ gap for those who voted for Trump when it counted,” Bass said, “but who clearly feel conflicted or ‘politically homeless’ about it in the abstract.”

Another possibility: There is a contingent who voted more enthusiastically for Trump in 2024 but have changed their mind since.

Even so, the decrease in Trump’s support among Latter-day Saints is echoed by a similar decrease in backing for congressional Republicans overall. An overwhelming 72% of Utah Latter-day Saint poll respondents say they voted for the Republican candidate for Congress in their district in 2024. Today? Fewer than 6 in 10 (59%) say they’d vote for the GOP contender.
It’s baffling that Mormons want to re-elect a man that would be excommunicated in a heartbeat were he to be low level ward member. LDS in Utah do not put their money where their religious mouth is.
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.

Yes! There are people out there in the world that don't think exactly like you do. I understand that is difficult for you to understand because your progressive cult narrative teaches you that your way of viewing life here on earth is the only true way of living that is inclusive and righteous. Does that sound familiar IHQ????

If Trump ran in 2028 I would vote for him and I would do it proudly!! I would join all the Mormons, Catholics, Protestants, atheists, agnostic, white people, black people, Latino people, Asian people and many others that voted him in twice now.

Here's what you and all the other progressives on this board can't understand because the brainwashing that has literally washed the common sense from your brain and has made it to where all you are able to believe is you are correct in your progressive views and everyone else is wrong! That is, that Mormons vote for Trump not because he's Christian, because i believe most don't believe he's actually Christian, I think most Mormons vote for Trump because he literally makes you idiot progressives go insane when you either hear his name or see him in media. That's the number one reason people of all backgrounds vote for Trump, even Mormons!!

Mormons like everyone else don't want to be lectured to by a bunch of self absorbed racist Marxist that believe their crap don't stink! That's a concept you will never understand while still a member of the progressive cult! You will need to step outside of the progressive mind fuxxery before you can comprehend just how batsxxt crazy the progressive movement truly is!

If I was forced to join the progressive religion or the Mormon religion for the rest of my life I would with out a doubt join Mormonism! At least in Mormonism i could find joy and happiness. At least in Mormonism i wouldn't need to be in a constant state of denial, always hating people that don't think or believe as i do. Sure, a percentage of Mormons do that, but not all! But progressives are so indoctrinated into believing they are the only followers of the only true religion, they believe there's no alternative!

You do realize over 70 million people voted for Trump?

What did you think was going to happen? Do you actually believe that Apostles of the progressive religion like Rachel Maddow, Keith Olbermann, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, The Squad, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer and the other Apostles were going to convince Trump supporters that Trump is an idiot!?!? Really????

Mormons????

Why are you singling out Mormons, you do realize the majority of America loves Trump? Here's an image of what Americans thought about his speech, Americans love Trump! Do you really believe Mormons care if Trump is living a "Mormon" lifestyle? You can't be that stupid!

Mormons want a President that understands that Americans have a right to worship how they choose! This discussion board hates Mormons, wants Mormonism to change, to become WOKE!! That's another reason Mormons vote Trump!

Why are you singling out Mormons…
Because this is a discussion board specifically for the topic of Mormonism (the clue is in the name), and the report on the survey I quoted was specifically looking at how Mormons replied to that survey (had you read it you’d have known that). If you want to talk about how other people would behave in the event Trump runs for reelection, then you’ll have to go to the off topic boards.

When you make idiotic statements like "LDS in Utah do not put their money where their religious mouth is" it just goes to show you know nothing about Mormonism! Mormons don't vote for a President because he's only had one sexual partner, or that he's not an alcoholic, or that he's not a smoker, they vote for someone that will allow them to live free and enjoy life as much as possible without government butting in.

You sir don't understand Mormons!!

It’s psychologically fascinating when a religion that reveres the Proclamation on the Family, consistently votes for a man who was civilly convicted of rape, raw-dogs porn stars, is mentioned 38,000 times in the Epstein files and who craps all over the Ten Commandments.
