In a startling admission Peterson gave
this obituary for an Interpreter volunteer
Tim Guymon, who served for many years as the typesetter for Interpreter: A Journal of Latter-day Saint Faith and Scholarship, passed away last month. He lived in Florida, and I never met him. But Allen Wyatt did, and here’s a brief tribute that Allen wrote for our website…
Incredible. How many times has Interpreter’s President visited Florida over the time Tim volunteered his time and attention (presumably for free, and not including lunch and travel expenses) to the Interpreter Foundation? Here’s an excerpt from what Alan wrote
{Alan} began working as Managing Editor for the Interpreter journal in April 2016, while volume 19 was still under compilation. (We are currently working on volume 68.) One of the other people helping with the journal at that point was Tim Guymon, who did our typesetting. He had even authored a book review for the journal, published in 2015.[1] Tim lived in Pensacola, Florida, and we would email each other about journal matters multiple times every week. This led to phone calls, long conversations, discussions about non-journal matters, and friendship.
Over the course of the next eight years, Tim typeset almost every article in every issue of Interpreter.
And interpreter’s President couldn’t be bothered meeting up with Tim. Not even once. Appalling.
