Hi,
I would like to know why Mormons don't believe in a literal lake of fire?
Thanks.

Technical issues. You can’t fill the Lake of Fire faster than the heat of the fire evaporates the lake. So it never can be filled.

It's all relative. For example, were it revealed at the Bar of Judgement that Russell M. Nelson only merited a cabin with 300 acres of land in the Terrestrial Kingdom and that he would be sharing a bunk bed with Gordon B. Hinckley, then eternally bitter would be his agonies and great his gnashing of teeth -- no matter how gorgeous the view.

If there is no lake of fire, then the death on the cross is nullified. What happens to people like Adolf Hitler, Paul Pot, Stalin, Kim Jong Il?
Also, what happens to the devil?

Is eternal punishment consistent with a loving God? Eternal punishment for actions in a short lifetime feels like shooting someone for jaywalking—completely disproportionate to the offense.

In Revelation it says that those who are not found in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire where the smoke of their torment shall rise up forever and ever.

What happens to people like Adolf Hitler
There's good evidence that he confessed Jesus before death so he's in heaven.

Does he avoid certain groups of people?

Anyone want to take a guess at the original poster’s brand of Christianity?
Reformed Baptist?

If people have the opportunity to repent after death then it means everyone is going to heaven.
