Which reminds me, how are the trout and water features doing at the upmarket shopping area of City Creek Mall? Given that the solution is increased rainfall, why aren’t Church leaders calling for a specific fast and associated prayers for increased rainfall? Surely the 15 geriatric Prophets, Seers, and Revelators, have sufficient Priesthood Authority to bring some much needed rainfall to LDS Central? Do they lack the belief that such a solution would work? Imagine the Church’s credibility were the 15 to head off down to the edge of the lake together, form a prayer circle, and bring about increased rainfall by the use of their authority.

Looks to me like the Hedge Fund is merely explaining why it won't be expending any of its massive wealth to help deal with the situation that is affecting so many of its tithe payers.

They did, however, swarm over the Afore's complaint about IHAQ asking if something "too hard for the Lord" in regard to bringing rain to Salt Lake. The many scholars of the forum have decided the Lord is using this draught to further his purposes. Some are unsure of what those purposes might be, but by golly, don't attempt to use a tax, the tool of the devil. Others claim it's not heresy to the five books of Moses to have a government intervene with public goods. The state of Israel is looked to as the exemplar of how to effectively use water without offending the Lord's aggressive duty to pure growth.

I think the great scholars of SeN are missing the point. Suppose you have a magic refrigerator that produces unlimited food. If there's no cost to using it, you're going to use it. If you have 130 children, you're not going to deprive the 131'st of food out of fear the fridge is getting used too much. God's power is merely unlimited tokens to substantiate anything. What is the difference between God translating his tokens immediately into rain, and God leading his servant to an hidden water supply, which was created by tokens at an earlier time? It's like debating the difference between a tankless and tanked water heater.

The argument that we need to "learn sustainability" falls completely flat in a universe of endless resources (the present resources + tokens). Why do we need to learn sustainability or anything really, when it's all available for free with the snap of the finger of a prophet? Why, if the natural state of God is endless resources, would he even consider what it's like to have a world with constraints? You learn to appreciate things because resources are constrained, appreciation makes no sense outside of that.

Now, if you want to argue that God isn't all-powerful, and that God actually can't just use his tokens willy nilly for some reason, then it's possible we do need to learn sustainability.
