As I’ve mentioned previously, in this instance I think we are looking at something different. Intimate homosexual behavior/practice strikes at the very core of human reproduction and the continuation of the human race, and thus the family of God. It strikes at the very core of family relationships that encourage the bearing and nurturing children through the instrumentality of a mother and a father.
That would be very inaccurate. It's a natural behavior found in many species around the world, including humans. It hasn't impacted reproduction or the continuation of any species. At worst it is neutral, which is why we see it persist in thousands of different species. Try to learn some facts before forming ignorant opinions.
Hi Themis, I take it as an insult that you would think I’m not aware of what naturally occurs in the animal kingdom. What does that have to do with what I’ve said?
If I accused you of the same would you not be insulted?
by the way, are you equating the behavior of other animals in the animal kingdom with humans? Straight across? No difference? Like we should just act like animals do in all instances?
Some here have mentioned that the human species would still reproduce and multiply. Well, that is true. No argument there. But that’s not my argument.
The church teaches that God’s house is a house of order. The question is, who ought to be in charge of how the house is arranged? You folks are saying it ought to be man. The church’s position is that it’s God.
Obviously non believers are going to have a problem with that.

MG

That argument that gays attack other groupings is ridiculous. So just the thought that others live differently than Mormons is found offensive, and justifies attacking others???? The lds religion is going down a very wrong road with this.

Indeed, the US Supreme Court told the Mormons to stop polygamy or face the consequences. The President of the Church even thumbed his nose up and went into hiding. But the laws of the land prevailed. Mormon god was put in his place and the Mormon prophets were forced to abandon polygamy.
So much for the
house of order.
It's all coming down the pike again with LGBTQ. Either the Mormons get their house in order or face the consequences. Not just in the US but other countries around the world.

What order? The Brighamite sect was itself a schism of "the Church." It has suffered multiple schisms. It has suffered through multiple structural and doctrinal changes.
Order.
It's just never ending dumb craps spouting of nonsense that suits their needs in the moment. "Ha. You got me." You'd think the Plinko for Brains would have a moment at some point where he'd realize the LDS corporation is a ball of contradictions meant to elicit fealty and nothing else because there's nothing other than what he projects onto it.
Anyway. You'll note the idiot-troll has nothing to say about the natural order of things and how homosexuality isn't, in fact, a threat to straight people damned and make billions more straights, gays, bisexuals, asexuals, and everything in between. What a damned rube. What an idiot. Just sheer dumb shittery to suggest homosexuality is a threat to human reproduction. There's 8 damned billion of us, yet flat brain just opens his maw and says stuff. damned Mormorons.

...people often call other people names due to their own low self-esteem, and the name-calling is usually not about the target but instead a reflection of their own insecurities.

As an atheist I’m sure that you feel a sense of comfort knowing that you know more than God.

Everything. You admit it is natural, but then make inaccurate statements about human reproduction and survival of the human race.

Humans are animals, and humans, like yourself, act like a human animals all day long. And you have already admitted it is a natural behavior.
Some here have mentioned that the human species would still reproduce and multiply. Well, that is true. No argument there. But that’s not my argument.
Yet we have your own words making that argument.

The church's position is that they speak for God. Certainly they can believe what ever they like, even when it doesn't fit the evidence, but they can't always do what what they like as was shown with polygamy. Funny how God changed his mind.

Here’s what I said:
Intimate homosexual behavior/practice strikes at the very core of human reproduction and the continuation of the human race, and thus the family of God.
Let me be a bit more clear. Do I think that homosexual behavior/practice is going to result in the end of the human race? Of course not. Do I believe that every person that chooses a life of intimate homosexual behavior/practice adds to the non proliferation of humans on the planet? Of course. I should have been more precise.
The family of God in a general sense is everyone born into mortality whether they believe in Him or not. In another sense, the family of God are those that choose Him to be their God/Father and follow His commandments. Within THAT family homosexual behavior and practice does impact the continuation of the family of covenant keepers and disciples of Christ.
BYU being a subset of the church requires it to follow the commandments. Again, I don’t see the shifting sands of public opinion and pressures, in this instance, to have the potential to result in the permissiveness that some would like/desire.

Gays are people just like anyone else. We want to be happy and pursue life in accordance with desire and personal will in finding fulfillment and reach the measure of our creation. Permissive? Oh what does that mean to a loving gay couple that are married and living together in a wonderful relationship based on love and respect?
Gay marriage is now a reality, no thanks to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints which fought the legality of a basic right every step of the way. The Church should apologize for the harm and hurt it has caused against so many people they don't even know. Shame on the Church!
You Mormons want freedom of religion and you have it.
We gays want freedom of marriage and we now have it.
I guess that means we're even.
