No, I'm not worried about ever being part of the upper tax bracket. I doubt I'd fit in with them politically. The rich don't stop being the rich once these taxes are implemented. In fact they get more rich. All the taxes do is drive their money to be invested in other countries that are more free and tax friendly. Socialism is not going to end well for your country. At this point, I don't really care enough to try to stop you anymore. I think I'll just sit back and watch it burn.If you believe this, and if this is the case, then why are you always complaining about ‘taxing the rich’,

And when the Confederates saw Jackson standing fearless like a stonewall, the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

I think you pretty much nailed it. Personally I think the existence of billionaires is a social sin and will result in the inevitable desperation you describe unless we do something about it. Obviously personal wealth is a good thing since it moves people toward productivity if they feel there’s a living to be made, but as with all systems and paradoxes at some point the feedback loop of human nature will kick in and unless we can have, I dunno, checks and balances, I’m afraid we’ll regress. It’s always a delicate dance between the haves and the have nots, and right now the pendulum here in the states has swung way, way too far to the haves-too-much.Chap wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 10:55 pmWell, yes. But more importantly, I like the idea of being in a place where I know that everybody I meet is secure in their basic needs, and enabled to develop as far as they are capable of.Doctor CamNC4Me wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 10:44 pmWould you want access to a good education, food and shelter if you were unable to get it, healthcare available if you're sick?
Because it's nicer to meet people like that in daily life than those who are living with concealed desperation and fear - including the fear by those who have that those who have not will turn on them in rage and hate and take what they need. That's no way for a human being to live.
At least that's how I feel about it. And you?

California's Governor Newsom has been pretty strict with his stay-at-home orders in regards to COVID. Governor Newsom is facing a serious recall effort mainly because some Californians disapprove of his handling of COVID. I don't really have an opinion on whether Newsom should be recalled or not.
My GOP Governor in Arizona here has been criticized from both the right and the left on his handling of COVID. While he has made a few mistakes in his handling of COVID, I didn't support the couple of recall efforts that have been launched against him here.

This is such a dumb (dishonest) way to look at the situation. The real question is, "Do you think the shut downs were worth having an incompetent baby in the White House for the last four years who refused to take responsibility for the country he was elected to lead and decided to spread idiotic misinformation about COVID instead?"
Christ, Trump supporters are dumb as rocks.
Religion is for people whose existential fear is greater than their common sense.

Well let's see what your party does about it and who actually ends up paying the taxes. You have no excuses now.I think you pretty much nailed it. I know that neither you nor I have any say in the matter but do you think it's right that federal taxpayers should be paying for California's decision to lock down?California's Governor Newsom has been pretty strict with his stay-at-home orders in regards to COVID. Governor Newsom is facing a serious recall effort mainly because some Californians disapprove of his handling of COVID. I don't really have an opinion on whether Newsom should be recalled or not.
So do you think the lockdown was appropriate and worth the economic cost in Arizona? My GOP Governor in Arizona here has been criticized from both the right and the left on his handling of COVID. While he has made a few mistakes in his handling of COVID, I didn't support the couple of recall efforts that have been launched against him here.
