Tea Party Time!

Did anyone else attend a Tea Party today? I went to one of the Tulsa Tea Parties and had a ball!

I'm registered as an Independent, and don't usually care a lot about politics, but I have to say that I feel the new government bailouts and economic programs seem incredibly intrusive. I'm not really into intrusive big government. So, I grabbed my wacky buddy, Pam, and we went to check out the Tea Party action.

We didn't have a sign, but Pam brought poster board just in case we decided we needed one. I did decide that I needed one, but couldn't think of anything to write on it but, "Holla!" So, that's what I wrote.

The weird New World Order conspiracy theorists were out in full force. What an entertaining crew! I collected all sorts of pamphlets and had fun flashing my dorky sign. Those folks at the demonstration are out for a revolution, but I have to say what they need most is a fashion revolution. Goodness. I think those men lack gay friends or something.

Also, I must really be losing my marbles because I checked out Ron Paul's book, The Revolution: A Manifesto from the library the other day. So far, I'm still interested though I'm only on Chapter 3.

Any other Tea Partiers on the board?

Good for you for going, KA. I'm afraid I was too lazy even though I sympathized with the Teaparty sentiment. They were holding a rally in downtown Salt Lake and I hate going down there--there's no place to park and it's a pain to get anywhere. If they'd held it at a mall, I might have been tempted. But no matter, I watched it on the 12:00 news and they had a big turnout even though it was raining.

I was surprised at how many people were elderly folk. I think a lot of them were worried about the out of control spending--that is my big concern. They came from a generation that lived frugally and do not like to see the country digging deeper and deeper into debt.

It would be nice if people separated by differing beliefs and philosophy could also be separated by government and country.

I was at the Chicago Tea Party with my wife. We had a great time. I missed the contentious interview with the CNN reporter since I had to get back to work for a 1:00 meeting. Jan Schakowsky did not approve this message!

That was incredible. I heard Greta Van Sustern talking about it. The reporter seemed to forget that she was there to report--not challenge the protesters. She's lucky it wasn't a crowd like at the G20 summit--they stood up for themselves, but they weren't dangerous. The G20 summit protesters were frightening!

I've no idea what you mean, Ajax.

It was just a hope of a better society. People that share certain characteristics philosophically could live and work indpendent of thos who don't share their philsophies nor perspective on life. We don't have to agree on everything, but I don't see why it's so necessary that we live together. I'd be nice have more variety in the type of government won would choose to be under.
