Recording music sucks.
So I've been in a local band here in Pensacola since late October or so. Lately we've been recording a demo because a radio station has expressed interest in hosting a concert for us early next year. Let me tell you something, nothing can make you hate your own art as well as being forced to listen to it for 10 hours straight, Blech. Anyhow, after a couple days, we've finished our very first demo song (only 3 more to go for the whole demo!) If you like modern rock, and might be interested in hearing it, I've provided a link below, any and all feedback is greatly appreciated. It should be noted however, that this is only a demo, so please don't expect full on professional recording quality.
Oh, and I play lead guitar.

Thank you very much for the kind words everyone. It makes me very happy to know that at least three people like it. And Redefined, if you send me a PM with an email address I would be more than happy to get you a demo cd when we are finished.

I liked it. Perhaps it's the recording quality you spoke of, but I'd like to hear less reverb somewhere in the bassline. Plus the song might be improved imho if the bassline was less subtle and had more oomph and clarity.
I'm not saying you have to have a funky style like this example, but I prefer a bassline that is at least as powerful and clear as the bridge on this song. From 2:42 to 3:45 and indeed the whole song.

Thank you for the feedback BCspace. This may just be the first time I have said this, but I agree. The reverb is actually on the rhythm guitar, and I don't think any of us actually like the tone on his guitar. The first mix we did it was actually louder than what it is now, and it made a delightful droning that washed out every other instrument.
I too like bass driven songs, and I have actually been trying to convince the others to make a kind of dance esque song totally bass driven in the verses, so I can sit back and focus on creating atmosphere. I'm sure they'll cave eventually.

I detect a blend of styles in the song. Can you say what type of influences drive your band?

Great song, Molok! Very nice!
I agree with what bcspace said in many ways. To me, the song has everything and then some, but the "articulation" of each instrument along with the vocals gets messy when they are all pulled together in the composition.
Part of it is the staccato punch of the lead guitar and lead vocals during the verses being on slightly different beats maybe...not sure on that. Having both be staccato and punchy at the same time is very cool, kind of like they are sparring. The articulation of the sparring match could be a bit crisper in the first verses before it becomes the brawl at the end, perhaps, is one way of looking at it.
But I really mean that I like the song and love what you guys are putting together there. If you put your CD's up for sell, be sure to post a link here!
