I'm ditching my smart phone (Blackberry user for going on 9 years now), and going to a basic cell phone and a tablet computer.
I'm getting into that old dog, new tricks phase of live, so I am looking for ease of use.
Any suggestions about a cell phone that is easy to use and reliable? I would want, for features, on it just a calendar that syncs with my Google Calendar and has audible alerts, a contacts data base that syncs with Google Contacts, and perhaps on which I could read e-mail or read/compose & send texts.
As for the tablet, should I go iPad 2 or Samsung Galaxy with Droid OS? I do not have any Apple computers, and my desktop (work) and notebook (home) will remain PCs.
A computer tablet and cell phone.

Hi Sock Puppet,
The following is my personal opinion:
I don't buy anything Samsung anymore. Why? I had the first Galaxy phone, and they never updated their Android OS -- I was two versions behind when I finally decided to switch to an HTC (much better phone).
For ease of use, I like the iPad. I highly recommend it. If it's more for entertainment than for work, the Kindle Fire is a great little tab that's inexpensive.
As far as a non-smart phone that synchs with Google, I don't know of any. You could go with a cheaper phone like the Nexus S, but you still need a data plan.
Depending on how old you are, you could look into the Jitterbug.

Non smart phones are getting real hard to find. But my old standard Sprint phone does work with my email accounts. As for tablets, you can't go wrong with Apple, my only regret is getting the wifi only. Sure it would cost more per month to use, but I can play Words With Friends wherever I go, like on an airplane.

If you are going Ipad2 (and you should!) then go with an IPhone (I know it's a smart phone, but still...) to match. Sync everything via the iCloud. You then have access to your e mails, calendar, etc via any computer that has Internet access. It's excellent.
