Inside the mind of an old leftist on immigration

Post by _ajax18 »

When discussing the consequences of importing poverty and the increasing size of that source of poverty with younger liberals who had never left the United States, their solution was to let in all would be immigrants as a matter of principle and any resulting economic shortages could be solved by raising taxes.

I asked an old hippie leftist if he also thought we should let all would be immigrants in? He replied, "Yeah, let them all in." Then he added some rhetoric that sounded a lot like George Bush in saying, "Immigrants do jobs that Americans won't do. You won't be able to afford your groceries, etc. etc." I pointed out that legalizing these immigrants would just result in more people on welfare. Employers prefer illegal immigrants because as illegals they have fewer rights, and generally when immigrants become legal, they behave like natural born Americans and refuse to work at jobs that don't pay any better than welfare provides.

His solution? He would deny them welfare. I countered, but if you deny them welfare, they'll resort to theft, crime, and create more costly social problems for you still? He then said that we should build more prisons. Then I thought, gee, that sounds a lot like what I'd like to do with the people already living here. With the exception of the fact that I would rather not import anymore poverty to deal with than we already have, his solution was similar to mine. Enforce the policy, if you don't want to work, you can go to jail. But if you can't enforce that on the people already living here, what makes you think you can do any different for all the people that want to come here?
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

haa haa.... That was funny. :)

Ya, I have conversations with Leftists sometimes, even a couple that are good friends.
You simply can't argue the truth and facts with them, because they can't seen anything beyond the seeming obvious.

I need a job, I'm in fact an EXCELLENT Dishwasher, an Expert at it. Had parents once who owned a Restaurant, and that was my first official job. I actually loved it. But, I can't even get a job as a dishwasher, and I've applied many times, one because I'm over-qualified, and two because they would rather give the jobs to Mexicans.

They don't do jobs American's won't do, that's crap. The ONLY job that that might apply to is working the fields. Other than that, that statement is CRAP! Construction, dishwashing, etc., we've been doing them for years before the Mexican's came along in mass.

I highly recommend the book 48 Days to the Work You Love by Dan Miller. I prefer the workbook to the book book.

Good luck!

The solution is:

1. Pass laws / amend Constitutions to forbid citizenship to anyone born here to any one parent not here legally.
2. Build and enforce comprehensive border fence.
3. Punish local governments, companies, and citizens for providing tax-payer funded services or other help to illegals.
4. Require any anyone here illegally seeking to become legal to go back across the border and enter in by the "front door".

No need for mass round ups or deportations though such are always justified in this case.

Thanks.... I actually already know the things I love, problem is my life is so out of whack because of the now ex that I don't know how to get it all back and which way to go anymore. Well, that's not actually accurate, I know, just don't have the will right now. So, just trying to get back to work, get some normalcy again, and then I'll start building.

I'm actually about ready to launch several websites, so that's likely my current direction to get going, but, still need to be working in the meantime.

I went to the occupational outlook handbook and found the jobs that were in the most demand. Going back to school at 30 sucked. But I finished it and now I don't work near as hard as I used to but make much more money. Had my parents not inherited the funds necessary for me to do that, I could still be teaching high school or working at WalMart. I thank the Lord every day that I don't have to teach or be a part of the socialistic joke of forcing people to be in school that don't want to be there, and then hiring people to blame for their lack of interest.

That's such an obvious and sensible answer. It's a sad state of affairs when our country isn't willing or able to do this.
