Endeavor ferry flight now in So. Cal.

Post by _Quasimodo »

Way off topic. I just heard from friends that the Orbiter Endeavor will begin it's flight over LA and Orange county in about 15 minutes. A once in a lifetime event. If you live in So. Cal. you should step outside and see if you can see it.

I live in Northern California, and turned to a TV channel that was carrying a live feed of the flight just as it past within 2 miles of my apartment. Couldn't see it but I could hear it. It was one of those weird moments where the 'reality' of Television and the reality of the outside world actually converged.

My story is similar. I could hear the f18 escorts (very distinctive engine sound) as they flew towards Long Beach airport (about 10 miles North of me), but couldn't see them or the Orbiter.

My wife should have had a better view. She works for Boeing in Seal Beach and I believe the 747 SCA and Orbiter did a close flyby over her building.
