I wanted to get some discussion on abuse vs. coaching in athletics but nobody was interested.
I could discuss that with you having had experience in competitive sports with my kids and doing some reporting on high school sports for the media. I guarantee you politics comes first despite the best intentions of the coach/AD. It's less of a problem in smaller schools mainly because every able body is needed.
Of course it depends on what kind of abuse you are talking about. I'm referring to the general use of kids and parents as pawns and not physical abuse.
- Whenever a poet or preacher, chief or wizard spouts gibberish, the human race spends centuries deciphering the message. - Umberto Eco - To assert that the earth revolves around the sun is as erroneous as to claim that Jesus was not born of a virgin. - Cardinal Bellarmine at the trial of Galilei
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen
I just wanted to see an Off Topic Forum that wasn't completely filled with extreme bigoted ignorance. When one has dedicated one's life to education, to trying against all odds to create the conditions for a better future, seeing the worst in humanity is super depressing.
Fortunately it is only a tiny fringe of wing nuts.
From the Ernest L. Wilkinson Diaries: "ELW dreams he's spattered w/ grease. Hundreds steal his greasy pants."
That is what happens when a sub-population doesn't view from "new posts." Other sub-populations try to wriggle their way in, one forum at a time. I really thought that everyone knew about bc's and droopy's spam campaign.
When everyone communicates, opinions mellow because of logical exchange of information. Logic and factual information don't matter to some, however.
Overuse of ignore does the same thing.
