A federal district judge in my own state of Washington made a ruling that, if upheld, will be a big deal. Judge Marsha Pechman held that transgender persons are a “suspect class.” That means that discrimination against transgender persons must pass “strict scrutiny” — the same standard that applies to discrimination based on race. The case is a challenge to Trump’s ban of transgender persons from serving in the military, so expect it to be appealed.

When I first read 'suspect class', I thought it was a government term for someone considered suspicious. The hysteria about transgender bathroom and transgenders in the military is about what, exactly?
