That is not what happened, and in our legal system one can not sign away their rights.

They were persuaded to sign a declination of a right to a hearing. Or in common parlance, they signed away their right. It's one sentence to read, so I can see why the context would be hard to follow.

Hey! I'm probably a lot older than Majax, and I don't share any of his racist, misogynistic, xenophobic and hard right conservative views. I may be old, but I am still learning, and because of what I have learned in my later years, I am less conservative, more progressive and more liberal than when I was young, and, if anything, becoming more so as I age. I'm sure you are familiar enough with my posting history history to recognize that. In just 25 more years I hope to become a centenarian. I hope my country will still be a democracy by that time and will have rid itself of such malignant aberrations as Trumpism!
