with a pretty significant doomsday seed vault.

but that is not why I started a thread about Svalbard...
All people regardless of citizenship are allowed to live and work in Svalbard without a visa or residence permit, as long as they demonstrate they are able to support themselves.
granted, there is that one glaring "qualification", but Svalbard is the only true open border that I am aware of and it inspires a thought or two on the subject of true open borders (note that Svalbard is an unincorporated area of Norway, for what it's worth).
Nevertheless, with the current debates surrounding immigration/emigration I wonder what posters consider about a true open border.
1. Can you reason that true open borders are, or are not, a viable circumstance at a global scale?
what are the implications on sovereignty? on crime prevention? on resources?...I realize that this could be a weedy thought experiemnt, but it seems to be capable of growing simple concepts....but it is the blooms of resolution that eventually bear the fruit of my interest here....for example,
In sovereign area "A" and individual "1" has committed an offense. 1 leaves A and relocates to area "B".....now what?
