I have trouble imagining a scenario in which the US ends up in a civil war. What I do fear is possible is something akin to the 2002 riots in Gujarat. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2002_Gujarat_riots A dramatic incident like the train fire in Gujarat, whether a terrorist act or an accident, could be hyped by the government or partisan media to the extent that it triggers widespread violence against those of the same race, religion, or political affiliation as the alleged terrorists.

When it comes to the risk of widespread violence, I see anti-fascists as a red herring. Their violence is directed at neo nazi and white supremacist groups and has little to no support among the mainstream left.

What concerns me more is a culture of violence that has developed on the right that is accepted, if not encouraged, by mainstream folks on the right. When Obama was elected, folks on the right were flying their Gadsen flags and talking about watering the roots of the tree of liberty with blood. The Bundies are heroes for using armed resistance against the government. Armed occupation of the Malheur wildlife refuge was celebrated.

Now that the right controls the executive branch, the same people who flew their Gadsen flags and openly carried assault rifles around town now cheer forced deportation of a US Congressperson who dares to criticize the President.

And Trump encourages this culture, by dishonestly painting his perceived enemies as enemies of America, by conducting the equivalent of the two minute hate at his rallies, and by suggesting physical violence against protestors. Right wing media has spent decades convincing its audience that democrats or liberals or the left are not just political opponents, but are enemies who hate America and have destroying the country as their number one goal.

That kind of culture and propaganda is what allows something like the Gujarat riots or the Rwandan massacre to occur. And when politicians cynically fan the flames of fear, resentment, hatred and bigotry for political advantage, it’s like flicking matches in a gunpowder factory.

ETA: The role of media in the Rwandan genocide is pretty disturbing. http://www.hscentre.org/sub-saharan-afr ... -genocide/ The parallels between the early stages of the media propaganda campaign and our right-wing media are pretty obvious.

no, the words used are simple and straightforward enough...if you can't provide an answer its ok for you to just say "I don't know" as opposed to you here using - "in other words..."

Here’s an example of a group of white supremacists who organize for the purpose of committing violence. https://www.courtlistener.com/recap/gov ... .142.0.pdf While Republicans want to brand Anti-racists as terrorists, they are silent about this type of group on the right.
