There is reporting that suggests the Trump admin’s claim that Suleimani is responsible for “over 600” American deaths (608, to be precise), is actually an inference based on a couple military officials’ dubious claims that EFPs (a type of explosive device) used in Iraq had to have been produced in Iran. The data more strongly indicate origins with Hezbollah, but pointing to Iran would, by association, implicate Suleimani. Others have been doing research looking for any reporting whatsoever by any news agencies that pinned specific American deaths on Suleimani prior to his recent death, and are coming up entirely empty-handed.
