Prediction - Trump will resign at some point to receive pardon from Pence
My prediction - If Trump survives the coronavirus he will resign before the inauguration of Biden in order to get a pardon from Pence, or in the event he somehow wins the election resigns before the end of his second term to receive the pardon from Pence.
The Universe is stranger than we can imagine.

Pence can't pardon him for state charges, only federal. The SDNY will have something to say after Trump's done pretending to lead the country.

Most are aware of that, nonetheless...........Some Schmo wrote: ↑Fri Oct 02, 2020 2:01 pmPence can't pardon him for state charges, only federal. The SDNY will have something to say after Trump's done pretending to lead the country.

As Schmo correctly observed, if you pardon the President he is still vulnerable on all of the state charges.
Think of it from Pence's point of view: If Trump resigns and Pence pardons him, it will be seen as a quid pro quo. Trump will still be in the headlines for all of the state trials. Over the next four years, the drip, drip, drip of negative press about Trump in the state courts will just remind people of what Pence allowed him to get away with on the federal level.
It would be impossible for Pence to escape Trump's shadow if he pardoned him.

All true, but doesn't mean it won't happen.MeDotOrg wrote: ↑Fri Oct 02, 2020 4:51 pmAs Schmo correctly observed, if you pardon the President he is still vulnerable on all of the state charges.

Ford's pardon of Nixon was a big reason why he lost to Carter.

SDNY will have no jurisdiction if Trump seeks asylum in Russia. Some Schmo wrote: ↑Fri Oct 02, 2020 2:01 pmPence can't pardon him for state charges, only federal. The SDNY will have something to say after Trump's done pretending to lead the country.
