Hope Hicks tests positive, Trump self-quarrantined

Post by _MeDotOrg »

From CNBC:
President Donald Trump said late Thursday night that he and the first lady would begin a quarantine process after top aide Hope Hicks tested positive for coronavirus.

“The First Lady and I are waiting for our test results. In the meantime, we will begin our quarantine process!” Trump tweeted after earlier suggesting that he may quarantine.
We will now see how many puns will be made with the name "Hope".

From CNN:
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines state that a 14-day quarantine should take place after the last known exposure to someone who has tested positive for Covid-19. This is because the incubation period for the novel coronavirus can be up to two weeks.
If, in the year 2012, you proposed what has happened in the 2020 election as a screen play, you'd have been placed on a psychiatric hold for 72 hours.

If the President tests positive, what is the state of his candidacy? He may sail through the virus and have a quick recovery. But he's a 74 year old obese man in a high-stress job. What if he has a serious bout with the virus and recovers, but in a weakened state?

What happens to his campaign? What happens if a 74 year old obese man survives his fight with Covid-19, but in a weakened state?

This stuff is happening so fast...a friend just told me about the list of people who've been in contact with Hicks. It's a LOT of the President's staff.

ABC had a doctor on who said that because of all the yelling, the chance of aerosol transmission was greater at the debate, and that both Biden and Wallace should be tested.

That makes good sense to me! I guess this ends any chance of keeping the remaining presidential debate scheduled. I doubt he will be recovered enough for the Oct 15 debate, if he has any symptoms at all. I wonder if they will still carry through with the Harris/Pence debate on Oct 7.

The Harris/Pence debate could be just as ugly. At least it will prove to people that the first debate says more about where we are as a country than it did about Trump or Biden.
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

I seriously doubt that the Harris/Pence debate will be anywhere as ugly as the Trump/Biden debate. The latter was ugly entirely because Trump clearly showed himself to be the rude, bloviating bully that any of us with our eyes wide open already knew him to be. He continually violated common courtesy and the agreed upon rules of the debate by unceasingly interrupting Biden during his allotted time, and trying to prevent him from getting any words in edgewise. If this had been a collegiate, academic debate competition, the judges would have justly disqualified him and thrown him out for violating the rules of the competition, and I'm sure even you would realize that, if you honestly thought about how that debate went.

While I disapprove of much that Pence stands for, I don't think he is nearly as rude as Trump and will probably at least try to be civil to his opponent, and allow her a chance to speak. If both of them are civil and stick to the facts, I am confident that Harris will easily decimate Pence.

by the way, during the 2016 Vice Presidential debates between Tim Kaine and Mike Pence, I was very much disappointed in Tim Kaine's performance. In that debate, Kaine was the one who continually interrupted his opponent when it was Pence's turn to speak. I think he possibly hurt the democratic side more than he helped by his behavior, and may have contributed somewhat to Hillary Clinton's loss.
