Well, if you frame the elite as being liberal intellectual elite this is too easy. Obviously Ivy League professors are pushing their elitist agenda onto people including the children of good people who won't put up with that much longer. So of course they are fighting back in school board meetings and on social media.

If you frame the elite as the white power structure then critical race theory is being misrepresented by those in power to maintain their privileged status and marginalization of minorities. Who are the pure good people.

Or, you know, we could frame it as a problem where our national ideals of small d democratic access to opportunity has fallen short in meaningful ways and in so doing we can chart a path to better realizing those ideals. No conflict between elites and the people needed.

Words are fluid. If somebody wishes to get out there and "reclaim" populism as a word that has a positive connotation, like say, "democratic", which both has a technical definition and a positive connotation, then so be it. Maybe a new party arises calling themselves populists. But until that party or group arises, it hasn't arisen, it's just Cultellus beating his own drum.

A better question for Cultellus would be, what of importance has populism ever accomplished?

- I'm only aware of the "populist party" over a hundred years ago that self-identified as populist like Cultellus does, maybe there some other examples in history, but I doubt there are any worth mentioning in recent history.

Who is responsible for the corruption of the concept of populism? The elite liberal scholars. Whose being deprived by the manipulation of said elite? The people. The BR article is just populist propaganda selling populist framing.

If you can find a copy of the journal article I mention in the thread there are chapters on the history of populism including it's modern (well, up to the 2010s) incarnations.

The polls are looking really bad for Democrats. At this point it is probably best for Roe vs Wade to be overturned so it politically helps the Democrats.
