Absolutely. Considering that being a right-wing Christian today is synonymous with lying and cheating as brazenly and openly possible, to stop himself and make the hard decision, to go against everything he'd been taught is good and right and to do the honest thing instead must have taken monumental self-mastery.
Then again, it's also possible that he did a back-of-the-envelope calculation and acted in sheer self-preservation. The probability of actually pulling off the coup by following the script he'd been given was still very low. And with the high probability of failure comes the 100% probability that Trump would have thrown him under the bus and insist he acted alone to take the fall and protect Trump. Then where would he be?
It's also possible that he was motivated both by self-preservation and doing the right thing.

I don’t think the Russians cared who won, they just wanted to create chaos and wreak havoc on the system. Didn’t everyone believe Hillary was going to win. Bonus points to Obama for doing what all good Presidents do: sitting down at his desk, writing a letter to Trump and leaving him the keys. Bonus points to Trump for doing what all good Presidents do: sitting down and wring a letter [ Wait! That Did Not Happen].

Trump gave them chaos and havoc in spades.
I agree. I could have told you in 2002 that if or when that guy gets power he will not give it up easily.

The US showed the rest of us to make sure our guy gets in. Fake electors wow Taking election machines wow Make Trump president for his life, the MAGA crowd will be happy, the Billionaires won't have to take the Supreme Court judges fishing. Putin can have his way in eastern Europe. Rewrite history that Trump did not lose but won every state. It was the fault of those left wing socialists. Further gerrymandering will help.
And to think, once upon a time, I would have voted for this loser.

Popehat wrote a nice piece about all the chaff being thrown out by Trump and other Republicans, as well as flat out lies from organizations like the National Review.
he/him When a Religion is good, I conceive that it will support itself; and when it cannot support itself, and God does not take care to support, so that its Professors are oblig’d to call for the help of the Civil Power, ’tis a Sign, I apprehend, of its being a bad one.
