I hope Pete does get the VP slot. With a woman of color driving MAGA into overt racist statements, a gay VP might very well be the thing that fully exposes just how unhinged the far right has become.

In my opinion, having Pete could cause a lot of black and Hispanic voters to sit the election out and/or hand it over to Trump. I think it's often easy to forget just how many black and Hispanic Americans are very conservative Christians. If the Republican party could go more than a few weeks without being openly antagonistic towards people of color, and filling their ranks with white Christian nationalists, they would absolutely crush Democrats.

That’s a very good point, and something I haven’t considered. The Republicans seem like they’re in a spiral to me at the moment, very similar to how Democrats were immediately after the first debate, but there is a long time yet until November and everything is going to change multiple times between now and then. Pete seems to me to be the most persuasive Democrat at the moment, but then I remember half this country doesn’t care a bit about logic and I sigh.
