Dictators “kill” the messenger bearing bad news.

Dictators “kill” the messenger bearing bad news.
And promote the messenger bearing favorable and flattering lies.
No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

From a Tweet from Michael R. Strain, the current director of economic policy studies at the American Enterprise Institute. The AEI is a right-leaning organization... well, except for now that they have dared to question the god-emperor, which means they are TDS Marxist Communist Leftists.
By incorrectly asserting that the data are biased, President Trump is undermining the integrity of the information that policymakers, businesses, households, and investors use to make important decisions that affect the welfare of the nation.

And from a leftist extremist over at the communist socialist Cato Institute:
“This is much more dangerous than the pressure on the Fed,” Cato Institute research fellow Jai Kedia told The Hill on Monday. “The labor and inflation statistics are the bedrock of every other federal institution that’s trying to work on the economy.”

Could it be that every single Nobel Prize winning economist, spanning the political spectrum, that wrote about Trump's policies was right about what the outcome would be? Nahhhh... it must be a Democrat conspiracy, and the guy who bankrupts casinos, steals from charities, and diddles kids is the intellectual hero here.

In the run-up to the 2024 election a major focal point was that Biden/Harris and team were hammering particular metrics to highlight the solid recovery of the economy, while "main street" folks were still hurting. A lot of talking heads (myself included) felt this might not read well to the average Joe that was still struggling. It wasn't that the Democrats were wrong in there review of the economic metrics, just that certainly not everyone was feeling the recovery yet. Anecdotal I know, but there were more than a few folks in my life who looked at call-outs of the solid economic recovery under way and hit me with lines like "don't piss on me and tell me its raining" kind of things. They aren't wrong, either. Seeing things like a strong dollar and rising stocks while seeing their grocery dollar covering less and less ground just feels terrible.

All that to say, surely they'll look at these attempts to cover up the bad news about this economy and see them for what they are... right?... right everyone?
