So I planted the rest of the new bedding plants today. I'm lying, I'll end up buying more. Teeny tiny rotten little reddish brownish microscopic devil ants biting the crap out of me! I think they're pavement ants. Let's just say that words were said and I'm glad there were no witnesses to hear them.
I've got the dried version of the molasses coming and a sprayer. This in the hopes that I can discourage the annual grasshopper plague since NOLO bait (magic) is no more.
With my luck, the devil ants are going to thrive on the molasses. And more words will be said.

I am practicing some water sprouting ideas as well, learning to grow micr greens, as it is called. I'm rather late on planting all together so this year is a learning year, although if I take great care of them, I could get some good tomatoes, squash, beans, and kale, along with some lettuce. I am tinkering with celery and actually sprouting some popcorn right now! I shall let you know how it goes. I put the mung beans in to soak tonight and start sprouting them tomorrow. I have some clover, 3 part salad seeds, and alfalfa to sprout as well. I just gotta get my weight down, my joints are chattering at me...... I'm eating boatloads of Romaine lettuce, a salad daily, and using the cut off bottom part in a jar to soak and it grows out again with more lettuce! REALLY COOL! I'm sprouting carrot tops also and those will give me lots of seeds I can then plant. I'm gonna sprout flax, chia, and pumpkin seeds also, so it's going to be a fascinating year of growing food now. And I've got my compost pile a brewin! It's actually coming along pretty darn good!

That sounds like a big garden you have going there! I've done sprouts. They're easy and so good! Microgreens are awesome for you. I'm really only working on filling in the flower beds some more. Two Earth Boxes of flowers on the deck, some seeds going on there in planters. Got more Earth Boxes to plant on the side. The Earth Boxes used to grow food. Nothing was ripe until the first frost so...I gave up!
p.s. Earth Boxes are the absolute bomb!

I’ll post some better pics when we get done. Here’s the pool area where we live:
If you zoom in you can get a sense of what kinds of plants grow here. Cheers!
ETA: We live at a famous sunset spot called Pôr do Sol. This is out the back entrance to our neighborhood, which has eateries and little shops - it takes all of five minutes to walk there from our house, which is great:

Doc, I had no idea that you and your SO had moved to a tropical climate.
Those plants look quite healthy and happy. I’m not sure what I’m looking at but some of those low branching palms look like Kentias. The paddle-leafed plants remind me of bananas a bit but I’m guessing they’re not. Post a list if you are so inclined and help a plant nerd out as I’m pretty ignorant with tropical picks. : )

This is basically what we bought, with some of these plants in containers:
Orelhas de Elefante
Dracena Cordeline
Singônio
Filodendro Ondulato
Filodendro Chocolate
Palmeira Carpentária
Helicônia Bihai
Cróton Colorido
Costela de Adão
Palmeira Areca Bambu
Íris da Praia
Bougainville Rosa
Helicônia Papagaio
Dracena Tricolor
We had to cut in half what we wanted because eventually we’ll put a type of jacuzzi/mini pool in the center. Until then it’ll be landscaping gravel with squares. We wanted the space in the backyard for social space.
But, yeah. We moved to Brazil for a new challenge. I wanted to learn Portuguese and my wife wanted to get to know her Brazilian side. So, here’s to new adventures! Saúde!
We've got this stuff growing out back. Didn't plant them. I think they're native to the area.
What a wonderful spot you have, Jersey Girl. I’ve always enjoyed the pictures and stories you’ve shared with us about your property over the years. Those fawns are cute as a button.
