People who hoard do so for a variety of reasons. They've experienced trauma, childhood abuse, growing up in a hoard, stuff like that. They don't see what you see when they look at their stuff. That's why it's hard to understand. It's kind of like body dysmorphia.

They're vulnerable people and it's not okay to mock or deride them. They're already operating under a crap ton of OCD pain every waking hour. They don't need others piling on more pain.

It's not piling on people to point out they have an obvious problem.

And the point here isn't to pile on hoarders, but to draw people's attention to the fact that individuals who hoard wealth are no different than people who hoard the junk they have access to. If poor hoarders understood the strategies to accumulate masses of wealth like billionaires do, they'd be exactly like billionaires (replacing large piles of junk with offshore accounts), because the mental condition is the same. They have a hole in their psyche that makes them desperate to accumulate crap they don't need. They suffer from crippling insecurity. Most people don't need to hold on to crap like they do. Bottom line.

It's not a criticism as much as a simple observation and acknowledgement of reality.

As I said in my other post: billionaires shouldn't be respected; they should be pitied and institutionalized for massive mental issues. And yes, they should be taxed at like 90-95% on anything over a million dollars a year. At least.

ETA: You kind of made my point for me. Don't people like Musk and Trump seem to you like people who've "experienced trauma, childhood abuse, growing up in a hoard, stuff like that?"
Religion is for people whose existential fear is greater than their common sense. It's also the favored cover for hypocrites.

The god idea is popular with desperate people.

This article called Is ambition just insecurity in disguise? validates what I've been saying (although they use gentler language than I have).

Great article! Thanks for showing it to us.
No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.
