That genuinely gave me a good laugh, Ceeboo! For the record, I’ve always enjoyed reading your posts, even when we don't see eye to eye. On a more serious note, though, I know I can take things too far sometimes. No offense was meant by it, but I completely understand how my posts came across as insensitive, especially to people here whom I consider friends. You have my word. I'm done posting about Charlie Kirk.

Surely someone should be willing to publicly take a stand against something as highly distasteful as this...........so I did.

Your selective sanctimony is remarkable.
Charlie Kirk made openly racist statements, called the Civil Rights Act a mistake, advocated forcing a 10-year-old rape victim to carry a pregnancy to term, gleefully enjoyed the suffering ICE inflicted on the powerless, and ironically dismissed the deaths of innocent people from gun violence as an acceptable price for gun rights.
Yet somehow, your moral outrage only materializes when someone makes a joke about him. You seem perfectly comfortable overlooking the cruelty and dehumanization coming from your own political camp. That’s not moral conviction.

You have to be pretty familiar with the smell of your own colon if you think you have moral authority over anyone after voting for and continuing to support a known rapist, not to mention traitor, fraudster, liar, etc. ad nauseum. Apparently, clutching pearls over a few jokes about a dead asshole is the correct response to that behavior, while supporting untrained thugs to accost innocent people in the street, among the many atrocities I could name, is just fine and dandy.
Remarkably daft, but that's MAGAtes for you.
What's really funny is it seems like the MAGAtes honestly think people give a crap what they say or take them seriously. It truly is hilarious, if not pathetic, that people are this damned oblivious. It's almost as if ceeboo hasn't noticed he has zero credibility. You can take what he writes as an idiot's guide to faulty thinking.

Religion is for people whose existential fear is greater than their common sense. It's also the favored cover for hypocrites.

Kirk's comments about one week after three children and three adults were killed at the Christian Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee. "I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal. It is rational. Nobody talks like this. They live in a complete alternate universe."

Charlie Kirk finds his own death worth it so that you can have the second amendment. He finds his own death in return a prudent deal. He finds it rational.
He was a repugnant individual and it is poignantly ironic that he was hoist by his own petard.

Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.

That's what's so frustrating and incomprehensible about many current Republicans, especially Trump supporters like ceeboo. They are outwardly decently polite, considerate, helpful and law-abiding people who would not hesitate to help people they can who are in temporary need or distress. Yet they are blind to even some of the most egregious, clearly documented cruelty, lawlessness and corruption committed by Trump and his administration that they would be justifiably and loudly outraged by if committed by any Democrat politicians or officials.
I like ceeboo. He has, in the past, contributed thoughtful and admirable insights to this forum, and often seems like a decent and deeply religious and caring person, but I am heartbreakingly disappointed in him for failing to see and acknowledge how pathologically corrupt, ignorant, dishonest, immoral, misogynistic and cruelly vindictive Trump has clearly proved himself to be towards anyone who opposes or disagrees with him even in the slightest, or how clearly unfit he has proved himself to be for the office he holds.
If any politicians presenting themselves to be of my own political persuasion were guilty of the worst things Trump has clearly done (and, in some cases even admitted to and bragged about, let alone convicted for), I would be even angrier of them than I am of Trump!
No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

Gunnar, it’s the banality of evil wherein a “good” person votes for a system that does horrific crap, like bombing a children’s school in Iran, but doesn’t feel personally responsible because they don’t have singular control over the evil itself. The evil, by design, is spread around so thinly that no one supporter of the evil feels like they’re responsible for it.
Take for example yesterday an ICE agent ran up to an innocent man walking his dogs, shoved him into to some bushes and stuck a gun into his face while screaming at him. Do you think Ceeboob can even remotely feel personally responsible for setting that in motion? Not a damned chance.
What really gets his hackles up though is to mock a propagandist’s death, a propagandist that was keenly effective at convincing young minds that the system that is evil is actually good and that the occasional spasm of violence isn’t evil, but the price we all pay to keep the evil in place, which is actually just us tacitly enjoying the benefits of evildoers. Which makes us complicit. He just happens to enjoy it while some of us feel guilty about it.

I think at some level, Trump voters like ceeboo actually agree with the racist, misogynist, gun-toting rhetoric so prevalent under this latest administration. Or they think giving that impression is a price worth paying for not admitting they cast their vote wrong.
What’s that line about evil only needing good people to do nothing…
