Mike Lindell Massively Damages His Own Case

Post by Gunnar »

Mike Lindell claims spreading lies about Dominion Voting Systems is good for business.

What a moron! Lindell has just effectively admitted that his support for Trump's stolen election claim is mainly (if not entirely) about selling more of his pillows.
Last Thursday night, MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell made a surprising admission to his loyal followers, considering that he faces a defamation lawsuit by Dominion Voting Systems for $1.3 billion. Lindell said his company has profited from his repeated lies about the voting technology firm — enough that the pillow king has recently hired an additional 200 employees.

"We hired 200 more employees because — 200 more employees," the MyPillow guy stated on his streaming site, Lindell TV. "We had to hire more because we are busy. People have responded. They have responded out there. We are a USA company with — now we have 2,700 employees. They are hardworking people."

In fact, Dominion argued exactly this in the company's initial Feb. 22 complaint against MyPillow and Lindell, alleging that the pillow tycoon had pushed unsubstantiated lies about the 2020 election and Dominion's voting machines in order to generate more revenue for his pillow empire.
‘MyPillow Guy’ Mike Lindell Devastated By Fact-Check Of His Lies
Call him “Ludacris.” Donald Trump can fly without wings. He is the second coming of Tony the Tiger. He told us that tap water has frogs and toads in it. Trump won World War II all by himself. He invented the computer. All lies, yet if the ex-president would have said them, all of his followers would believe him. His is the biggest con in American history, perhaps even the world–that the 2020 election was stolen from him. This Trump-infested lie has taken real root among his believers, according to MSNBC. And there is more.
No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

Funny! :) Do you suppose there is any chance that the real Lindell would honor that promo code if I ordered a pillow from him? Not that I ever would, of course. What reviews I have seen of his pillows were not very favorable.
MyPillow has a consumer rating of 2.11 stars from 476 reviews indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Consumers complaining about MyPillow most frequently mention customer service, neck pain and full refund problems. MyPillow ranks 68th among Bedding sites.

Lindell is as obvious a liar as Trump himself. Why would anyone buy anything from that fruitcake? It's no surprise his products suck.

Besides, I wouldn't buy anything with a product name format of "My______" because it sounds cheap and crappy. Can you imagine a Ford MyCar? Or a GE MyFridge? Maytag MyWasher and MyDryer? Those names make the products sound like junk. How good can the product design be if you can't even conjure a decent name for it?

Kind of like when Alex Jones had to admit in his divorce case that he was just a clown for money.

Very much so, which makes me wonder why fans of these people don't change their minds when they find out this stuff. Do they just avoid the information?

Any time I find out that a public figure I admire or respect (politicians, religious leaders, business people, entertainers, whatever) has been lying for selfish reasons, all admiration/respect flies out the window. I just don't get how they keep their fans, except to throw up my hands and say, "That's a cult for you."

Both instances remind me of the business of mopologetics. They find out the cult leader was lying, but look for ways to excuse it, because the cult's more important to them than the lies.

Mopologists waste so much time and life defending the interests of a handful of powerful old men in control of the corporation. I really pity them.

They have one of many possible roles for a cult member. Cultists all support their leaders in one way or another. Just calling yourself a member lends the cult support and cheap credence. I have the same pity for mopologists as I do any cult follower, and the pity varies depending on how gracious my mood is at the time.

It is. My working theory for the "alternative facts" universe they live in is this:

These are the not-very-bright people who, for their entire lives, have been told what they should be doing by the smart eggheads of the world. You see this in how they refer to Liberals as "know-it-alls" and "scolds". It irritates them. They’re insecure about their brains, but actually _learning_ how to think critically and learning how “science” and “statistics” and “civics” and “laws” work is too high of a mountain to climb. What they'd prefer to do is just believe that they are the ones who really have the common sense and that "science" is just smoke and mirrors, and nobody really understands it.

In the past, there was only so high an ignorant fool could rise by believing whatever they felt like. However, since Trump provided fools with a champion, it brought all of them out into the open (so that they could gather together and assure themselves that their made-up reality is the real reality), and also to demonstrate that that someone can just make up whatever beliefs they want and still become President.

Think about that. They saw with their own eyes that facts and truth didn’t matter. Just BS with a wink and a nod. So, now they've been lifted from feeling like the dumbest half of the country to feeling like they're the only ones who really understand what's going on.

Hence Mike Lindell sellin’ pillows to suckers.

I think there is a lot of merit to your "working theory." It is so much easier to remain dumb and ignorant than to exercise the necessary diligence to critically seek what is actually real, and honestly compare it with one's own deeply held convictions.

This is why it is so important for all of us to honestly examine and reexamine our own precious pre-conceptions with a view towards identifying and purging ourselves from irrational, confirmation bias and ignorance.
