Saying Goodbye to 2020

Post by MeDotOrg »

A year like no other.

My nomination for the official painting of 2020:

I have a face-mask of The Scream. It seems appropriate.

My nomination for the song of 2020:

Under Pressure
Pressure pushing down on me
Pressing down on you, no man ask for
Under pressure that burns a building down
Splits a family in two
Puts people on streets

It's the terror of knowing what this world is about
Watching some good friends screaming, "Let me out!"
Pray tomorrow gets me higher
Pressure on people, people on streets

Okay
Chipping around, kick my brains around the floor
These are the days it never rains but it pours
...People on streets...People on streets...

It's the terror of knowing what this world is about
Watching some good friends screaming, 'Let me out'
Pray tomorrow gets me higher, high
Pressure on people, people on streets

Turned away from it all like a blind man
Sat on a fence but it don't work
Keep coming up with love but it's so slashed and torn
Why, why, why?
Love, love, love, love, love
Insanity laughs under pressure we're breaking

Can't we give ourselves one more chance?
Why can't we give love that one more chance?
Why can't we give love, give love, give love, give love
Give love, give love, give love, give love, give love?

Because love's such an old-fashioned word
And love dares you to care for
The people on the (People on streets) edge of the night
And love (People on streets) dares you to change our way of
Caring about ourselves
This is our last dance
This is our last dance
This is ourselves under pressure
Under pressure
Under pressure
Pressure
The great problem of any civilization is how to rejuvenate itself without rebarbarization.

Add “good riddance” and you’ve got yourself a deal.

I'd like to take this opportunity to pay tribute and say goodbye to 2020, Jersey style.

MeDot although I had seen your new thread here I completely forgot it when I posted a similar thread last night. Hope that's okay with you. I sure didn't mean to duplicate what you started. Don't come for me!

2020 was a mixed bag. The pandemic sucked, of course, and Trump was a bigger maniac than ever before. From a public perspective, 2020 sucked balls. At least we elected Biden despite a minimum of voter fraud from Republicans. At least, I think it was a minimum of fraud. 74 million votes for Trump sounds like massive fraud to me, but Biden won despite their efforts, so I can let that go (thought I'd see what it's like to just make up crap like ajax. I admit, it's fun).

For my family, however, it was a phenomenal year. I won't list everything that happened, but it's just kind of strange to me the contrast between what the public is going through and what we are personally. This was a great year for us in many categories.

The biggest way 2021 can improve is for us to swear in a competent president, get COVID under control, and be able to travel again. Won't that be nice?

The god idea is popular with desperate people.
