I love the use of sod and bugger....and also the ability to put "bloody" in front of anything. My use of "Bloody 'ell" is well known to me mates. I also use it when describing other British things that tick me off (such as)...."Bloody Liverpool, losing to those Fulham wankers!" (Alright I've been hanging out in those British soccer chatrooms too long).
I was also in the midst of explaining (in the car while driving) what putting up two fingers at someone meant, (has to do with the British medieval reaction to the French Archers...which was something along the lines of ...see...we still have our two fingers..we can shoot at you with our bow and arrow).......when apparantly a kindly man in his garden started putting his fist up at me (according to the kids in the car) because he thought I was being rude to him. The kids thought it was the funniest thing..
Yeah...that's a cool story about Agincourt, where the ability to "pluck" a bow got changed to "f-ck" and there we have our modern insult. Way to flip the bird at some stranger....LOL
Bond!! I can't believe you like Benny Hill.....He got taken off the air for being offensive to women in general, and I don't think he ever got over it, died a sad man. (My dad, for some entirely unknown reason that totally escapes me, absolutely loved The Benny Hill show) Monty Python of course is totally classic!!
I can't help it...I like those Yakkity Sax chase scenes and some of his songs (and that little bald guy), although admittingly his show was pretty sexist....(although I use the persona of James Bond)....personally I can't believe that show was allowed to stay on the air so long, considering the (in some cases) blatant female nudity, not to mention the innuendo and sexual content of the show, the slapstick was what I liked, the girl stuff only was funny when they played it into something completely unexpected, like a person being disinterested because they're gay or something.
Monty Python...of course classic...."and now for something completely different" I still use this as a segway!!
You said you were going to post your American list!!! (still waiting.........!!!)
