Ever play WoW? Pretty easy to pick up. It's got a nice, gentle learning curve that'll slowly ease you into the game before adding new and more challenging things.
Not EVE. EVE has a tutorial that's designed based on an obscure sadist training manual by the Marquis de Sade that takes perverse delight in tormenting you with seemingly easy tasks like "shoot this bit" or "mine this rock" shortly before pouring boiling pitch on your genitals and punching you in the neck. And that's before you even get into the real game.
Here's a graph to demonstrate what I'm talking about.
Also, unless you have friends and a good corp with you, don't even think about venturing out into 0.0. There be dragons out there. Dragons with space ships and missiles and lasers and... Well, just stay the hell away from 0.0 and if you see anyone with LWTAX or OHGOD in their name, warp out as fast as you can before you get suicide ganked by JihadSwarm.

I've never played a MMORPG. I've never even played a game online, either.
So what is this "EVE" of which you speak?
"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"
I've been spending way too much time playing Call of Duty 4 on the PS3. Before that I was spending way too much time playing Oblivion (I've still got some work to do there - maybe I'll get back to it this week). I joined an all-girl gamer clan for COD4, and we like to go around killing the boy gamers (it's so satisfying to hear "Oh man, I got beat by a girl!").
I may be going to hell in a bucket, babe / But at least I'm enjoying the ride.

Awesome! I love COD4. I play it on PS3 also. My online name is silencekit. I'm not in a clan yet. I think I'm around level 28 or something. Add me as a friend sometime. Then you can kill me when I'm online.

I may give it a try. Have you played the new Conan MMORPG? If so, how is it in comparison with the others?
I was being sarcastic about trying WoW. World of Warcraft is basically the training wheels on a bike version of MMO gaming. It looks pretty, is nice and friendly, and overall incredibly BORING.
You want to try something that'll actually test your gaming abilities then you go with either EVE or Tabula Rasa.

Oh, and if either of you have a PC that can support it, get a copy of CoD4 for the PC and I'll show you some tricks. Level 55 and I've got a gold druganov (I think that makes me a l33t $n1P3r, yo).

I want to try the new Bionic Commando game but I still have trauma from the original NES version. Oh, the hours spent trying to get that idiot from Point A to Point B.
I haven't picked up any next-gen consoles yet anyway. Lately I've been playing through my old PC RPGs. The good ones that aren't based on Final Fantasy. Right now I'm in the middle of the Baldur's Gate Trilogy. I'd forgotten how hard and ruthless this game can be. Good times are being had.

This game is so addicting. I never played the original NES version (I had a Sega Master System), but this remake is awesome. They have (or will have soon) a version for the PC. No need to get a next-gen system just yet.

I love the Baldur's Gate games. I also played a lot of Icewind Dale. Good stuff.
