Yeah. There is a lot of learning of to fall "right" in training. Another is jumping up in the air and learning to land on your back in a way that doesn't cause you to get the wind knocked out of you. I've never had the wind knocked out of me in a fight, but I have doing stupid things before and I can only imagine.

As far as Fedor going to the UFC to begin with, I'm not sure if you mean the start of his career or if you mean when the Zuffa bought Pride. If you mean the first one, when Fedor started fighting outside of Russia nobody thought that he was going to be anything special. His first fight in Pride was against Heath Herring in which everybody picked Herring, who went on to get absolutely trashed. If you mean when Pride was taken over, the UFC tried to sign him, and he had to many special things that he wanted such as, he wanted to compete in Sambo tournaments, he didn't want to sign an exclusive contract, and he wanted some of his training partners to be given contracts as well.
