There's a decent chance they will lose the Senate this year. Last July, that possibility was a real long shot. But the President has a tin ear.B23 wrote:Enjoy it Senator, Democrats should take the seat back in 2012.

Enjoy it Senator, Democrats should take the seat back in 2012.
They might. The majority of Americans remain stupid, racist, and vapid. Until then, we give thanks to God for Massachusetts tonight, a state in the union once more.
Why are you supporting a liberal Republican?
Voting against Obamacare is America's greatest need right now and voting that way is pretty conservative.
Fallout:
Suspend further votes on health care legislation until Senator-elect Brown is seated.
Prognostication:
I knew Brown would win as soon as Zogby said Coakley would win for sure by less than a point. That's because Zogby's polls always skew left for some reason.
Not hearing the actual debate, but going by the summary of the article, I would probably vote for Brown if I was in Mass. Brown shares a lot of the conservative views that I do. Surprised, BC? ;)
Yes I am you left-wing commie pinko. ;)
Olympia Snowe anyone?

Re: The people's seat
I'm glad Brown won. He seems very fair-minded. I think that Health Care DOES need reforming, but both parties need to go back to the drawing board. The American people certainly aren't happy with the current bill on the table.
I also think that the reason the votes went to Brown is because people are tired of the economy tanking.
Obama should take a signal from this...the same type of signal Clinton took when he was President. If Obama wants a second term, he is going to have to veer to the right. Clinton was a very smart politician. He took credit for a great many ideas...one of them being FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act). What many people don't realize is that it was Republican congress that initiated and supported many of these programs.
I also think that Brown will be an added commodity to the Senate in regards to terrorism. No doubt, President Obama is trying to fix this mess, but he lacks the military savvy to pull it off alone. He lead the people to believe that he would be surrounding himself with the best and the brightest who could help guide him through some of these military strategies. However, so far, that doesn't seem to be the case. Maybe more senators like Brown will be able to influence him.

The only problem here is you actually seem to think that the likes of Obama and Clinton have our best interests at heart and whose goals aren't the wholesale destruction of our political and economic systems as well as moving our morality farther and farther away from that which is maintained by the LDS Church and initially established with this country. In other words, you don't see the danger. Otherwise you're fine.

In your opinion, what do Obama and Clinton intend to raise in all those things' stead?
Also, when did either of those two try to "move" your morals anywhere?

In your opinion, what ARE Obama's and Clinton's goals?
Plain socialism in Clinton's case. Chavez style Marxism in Obama's.

I think that you are being ultra-paranoid in thinking that Obama embraces "Chavez-style" Marxism.
As far as Socialism goes....if we are utilizing the following definition, we are basically already there:
The view that the government should own and control major industries using the dollars earned to provide benefits to citizens.
Here is my source:

I don't think that Marxism or Socialism is ultimately what either Clinton or Obama are after. I think it is power, plain and simple. They both relish in the job of being the most powerful figure in the most powerful "super-power" in the world.
In order to keep that power, however, they still ultimately have to have the people's buy-in. Clinton recognized that. I thought he was a slime-ball personally, but I give credit where credit is due. He was smart. He knew that the only way he would gain a second term was if he began to play nice with the Republicans. As we all know, it worked!
Obama faces the same crisis. He appointed too many far left wing politicians in his tight circle. If he wants a second term, he is going to have to re-strategize. The problem is, he has a lot tougher times facing him than Clinton did. Like it or not, the war on terror is real, and requires stable military thinking, which is going to come from the right side of the aisle, not the left.

I'm curious what you think Obama meant when he saidDr. Shades wrote:In your opinion, what do Obama and Clinton intend to raise in all those things' stead?
http://pajamasmedia.com/rogerkimball/2008/07/18/obamas-quote-of-the-day/We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.
