You get notice every time a foe posts...where exactly? Email notifications or something? I get no notifications at all about anything here. Ever.
When they quote you. But, no one is holding a gun to our heads to open a linked post. For example, over the last week I’ve been quoted by Water Dog and Pedantic Mike, but I just don’t bother because they’re impotent Mormon cultists who have nothing to say of interest.
I still have no earthly idea what you are describing. I don't see it. I don't know how you have your preferences set. The only thing I noticed when I logged in today was that some old threads had been bumped up by trollists who contributed virtually nothing to those threads except for trolling them. When I looked at this particular forum today it gave the appearance of spamming.

Anyway, If I got some sort of notification each time someone quoted me or whatever, I wouldn't post here. There's already enough noise going on with the troll-spamming.

Huh. You piqued my curiosity about Notification Settings, and as a matter of fact you can turn off the notification when someone quotes you. Nice. I just updated my settings and now the noise to nonsense level dropped another notch.

It’s too bad Water Dog went off the deep end. I thought he was a good poster, but clearly something happened in his personal life that caused him to snap and take it out on this forum. I hope he’s able to work it out.

Oh see! Lawd I would die if I got notifications about anything on this board.

Hey Wasn't WD the one I was talking to about his relationship with his wife before he departed the scene?

Hey, it works! I wasn’t notified that you quoted me. Tender mercies.

Yeah, WD was the one. I think, and my memory is a little fuzzy here, he and his wife weren’t doing it enough because he was PIMO and she was a TBM or something, and then he was thinking about divorcing her or something unless they start doing it more, but he or his wife’s family is “Mormon royalty” or they’re close to “Mormon royalty”, whatever the “F” that means, so divorce is a really big deal and he’d be screwed if he went through with it, and then he deleted all his crap (his calling card is to leave a single period as the edit), and then I seem to recall he popped back up and bragged that he and his wife were doing it a lot now and their marriage is on good footing or something.

Jersey Girl, the notification is just a red circle next to the bell in the upper right of the screen with the number of quote replies to something you posted. I like it because it lets me know that someone I'm having a conversation with has replied. You do get them for foes, which is a little surprising. But when you click on the notification, you get a list of who quote-replied to you, and you don't have to check the responses you don't want to. If you click on a notification from a foe, it doesn't show you the text of the post. You still have to click the "display this post" link in the thread.

You can file that under the "Ask an Introvert" section of your board experience notes. I'd jump out a window if I got notifications here. If we somehow had forced notifications I wouldn't BE here. And you can take that to the bank and cash that crap. I'm in two other groups that send intermittent notifications and even that sets my teeth on edge. I've got to address those two places.

If memory serves, I spent a long time talking to him then at some point, he peaced out. Yeah, that kind of fits the current situation but I don't know that he'd invest that much time spamming the board unless he had time. Who knows.

I'd kill my screen name over that crap. Sounds like a good way for Shades to get an overview of what's going on here though. I dunno, he might have another feature he can do that with.
