As much as I enjoy Trump taking flak for everything I'm a little hesitant to give him all the blame on this one. I get that many have claimed he and his rhetoric are why they aren't coming, particularly in response to the NYTimes article about it but I think that is an incomplete picture.

Tourism to America has been on a steady decline since 2015, losing some 7.4 million visitors. This is due to several factors, most notably a dollar that has been on the rise since 2011 (Thanks, Obama! :biggrin: ) but also some ridiculous growth numbers in the early 2010's driven by Chinese visitors.

I'm sure that some people make individual decisions not to come here because of Trump. I just think most people don't choose to travel based on politics, I hate Louisiana politics but see if you can keep me out of NOLA. We are kidding ourselves if we think booting Trump will solve the industries problems and I think the industry agrees, given their creation of the Visit US Coalition that I linked above.

You're saying that to the wife of a lifer in the US Military. We were stationed overseas you giant dumbass.

Congratulations, I'm a military spouse as well. But all that is irrelevant to your "American tourist" question...unless you guys are planning to vacation in uniform??

Had you ever traveled overseas you'd know that it doesn't take a uniform for people to treat you differently. All you have to do is speak.

For the record, I don't believe a thing that comes out of your keyboard. Someone like me won't invest time on the insincere. There are folks here who obviously think you are a good game to play. I don't think you're even that.

I can't help but think that scenes of chaos like we saw at airports over the travel ban might make a person in another country think to themselves, "Maybe I'll check out France next vacation. The US might return to normal after a few years..."

Basically, if you're a traveler with options, you may be choosing against the States this year just out of a feeling of unease (rather than consciously saying no to Drumpf).

But I agree with you that there are likely other factors.
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.

"NOLA" = New Orleans, Louisiana?
