Re: While Driving, The Car Radio.....
I like easy listening stations. If I am in a vehicle with Sirius radio, I will try to find the folk songs channel - however, one of my offspring will want some strident sounding music.
I have a friend who always listens to conservative talk radio. Seems to be a symptom of the Mormon-Republican syndrome. Sufferers of this syndrome experience sensations of being persecuted and of Trump being the prophesied orange ground sloth that will save the Constitution from some thread. Pretty weird stuff. Makes you want to fast and pray that they snap out of it at some future date.

I like music stations like Symphony Hall, On Broadway and jazz stations when in the mood for music. Otherwise, I often listen to President Politics, NPR or Progress channels on Sirius Radio.
No precept or claim is more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

I would, if I was driving a vehicle with a decent sound system and had a satellite subscription. Mine’s pretty spartan. Otherwise, too many ads makes it hard to appreciate that option.

Agreed. I turn the radio off a lot too, especially first thing in the morning. I loath noise in the morning.
But if I do turn on the radio, it's NPR. It's the only decent news source on the radio in these parts. canpakes must have a strong stomach. My lower colon starts to come apart if I listen to "conservative" radio longer than a few minutes.

Either NPR, Podcasts, or Spotify depending on my mood and time available. Spotify music choices run a very wide gamut but I go through long stints of focusing on a particular genre.

I am a scenery freak to a fault. Holds true on planes, too, where I’m happiest in the window seat. Wish that my vehicle was more quiet, but the tires have a pretty aggressive tread and a quiet ride just isn’t a part of the experience. : )

I consider doing so as useful to understanding that mindset. Not so much from a logic perspective, since that doesn’t factor into it so much, but to know what these radio hosts are telling their audience, which will then reflect on the arguments that this audience makes in public.
Just yesterday, Hannity was interviewing a fellow running for office in Michigan, I think, and - of course - the conversation turned to how everything was so economically horrible under Obama, but is now amazingly awesome under Trump. There was no rational examination of the economic timeline and how it has evolved. Hannity then made the claim that the labor participation rate (one of ajax’s favorite statistics) was “the worst ever” in our country’s history under Obama, but how it is now “the highest ever” under Trump. This is an absolute flat-out lie as the rate has stagnated at low levels since Trump landed in office. There is no way that Hannity cannot know this, so he is willingly and blatantly lying to his audience. And his audience won’t even check, or care if they did and found out that Hannity was lying his arse off.
This is the sort of thing that helps to define how these die-hard Trump fans live in an alternate reality of imaginary bogeymen and imaginary statistics. It explains a lot of Ceeboo’s ‘unbridgeable divide’.

NPR classical, regular NPR, college radio station, local public station (WORT if you are familiar), oldies station, and a flagship non-clear channel Madison radio station in a cycle. Mostly NPR and college radio.

Thanks for taking a light-hearted thread and turning it another opportunity for you to make it political - While expressing and attaching your personal opinions to mine.
If I didn't know how balanced and rational your political views were (as can be seen all over this board), I would have thought that you just suggested that I am one of those "die-hard Trump fans" that you posses so much contempt for.

I also occasionally listen to religious right talk radio stations, which are simply a horror show at this point that I think most people are either completely unaware of or deeply into with no room inbetween. I'm fascinated by how poisonous and deceptive it is.
