My position at present.
Divisions in sport are about different bodies, not different ways of thinking about oneself.
There is a partial parallel with the fact that certain soccer teams now organise their youth teams not by calendar age, but by level of physical development - which can take place at different speeds even amongst people who will end up in about the same place as adults.
