You know me, right? I don't mind discussing most any topic. This one makes me want to run out of the room screaming in my head never to return.
IANAD. I don't know what the laws are regarding organ harvesting in this case. I don't know specifically what the law states regarding harvesting stem cells in this case. I don't know what ethics are involved.
If I had to take a random stab at offering up a morbid (yet possibly medically feasible?) scenario, I'd say that the infant was already dead due to cardiac arrest, time of death called, and then they started the heart immediately there after to ensure blood flow to the brain for what reason I don't know, but I do think there needs to be blood flow for most organs to be harvested in a timely manner so they keep everything cooking, as it were, in the mean time.
I don't know
what procedure was used to terminate the fetus. I don't WANT to know what procedure was used. I don't know if the procedure used eliminates the possibility of cardiac death, time of death called, heart restarted immediately thereafter and then harvesting of organs scenario or if the reports are true or false.
I basically don't know anything at all. Write that down.
But thanks for raising the topic on this wonderfully dark, dismal, frozen in the house Sunday. This was perfection. Going to scream in my head now.
