Aware of that.
The options at that point are several. It I worth asking the employer "if I resign..." what severance package? will unemployment claimed be fought? will benefits transfer/be extended? etc...
What I bolded is useful.
with regards to the injury...the employment, resignation, etc are irrelevant except the injury cannot be used to "force resignation"...one never HAS to resign unless it is part of a workers comp settlement (which means effectively choosing to resign). A lot relies on the State laws so likely best to consult a local lawyer.

There should be a meeting tomorrow that will prove pivotal. In any case, I really appreciate all the replies here. As I explained, family is all over the place right now. Mainly in and out of hospitals, ER, you wouldn't believe it if I detailed it. Those who aren't sick/injured are helping those who are. And then this situation reared it's ugly head and added to overall stress. I appreciate the replies to this inquiry that I posted on the run.
What a week!

The family member asked for coaching yesterday which I provided.
Today, the family member took parts of the particulars we discussed, developed their own strategy and saved their own position!
The apple definitely did not fall from the tree.
Wow! Thanks again, all!
