The Government contracting to build a less expensive ventilator so we could stockpile them, only to have a bigger company buy out the smaller company and then kill the project so their more expensive ventilators didn't have their margins hurt? There's an update!
After the bigger company got out of the contract, the US government gave the $13.8 million contract to a Pennsylvania company that last September got clearance to develop their Trilogy Evo Universal ventilator and send 10,000 to Health and Human Services for their stockpile. Now that we need them, they're still not ready for us, BUT that Pennsylvania company took the ventilator they developed with those taxpayer millions and has been actively selling a commercial version of it OVERSEAS at over four times the cost.
That's TWO companies in a row that hosed us on ventilators because the market only cares about the almighty dollar.
