The extent of benefits fraud is not known since presumably not all criminal behavior is caught. But "the bottom line is there are billions and billions of dollars that are lost by taxpayers to improper payments, including fraud, every year," says Matt Weidinger, who studies poverty at the conservative American Enterprise Institute and has worked on unemployment benefits policy.
Most fraud is by providers or outside scammers, not as much by recipients. Individuals who have been convicted of such fraud are overwhelmingly U.S. citizens. In fact, undocumented immigrant workers pay billions into Social Security every year, effectively subsidizing a program they will never collect from.

This might be awkward for Ajax to read. He’d be well advised to ignore the facts completely…
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.

Dump wanted to give Spirit airlines $500M and for the feds retain a 90% stake. Should we be giving money to these failing businesses, and owning their means of production in exchange?

There should be a forum rule that if you make a post or a comment you have to engage in discussion because this is a DISCUSSION FORUM. Drive-by posting is BS.

For what it's worth, I think you're one of the few Democrats who would do something to stop welfare fraud if you were in a position to do so.Doctor CamNC4Me wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2026 2:44 pmFaye Bernstein testified, cool, but that doesn’t prove her retaliation claims are verified facts or justify turning it into a partisan attack on Keith Ellison or Tim Walz without independent findings backing it up.
And when the Confederates saw Jackson standing fearless like a stonewall, the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

Be honest. You don’t hate welfare fraud. You hate welfare period.ajax18 wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2026 5:05 pmFor what it's worth, I think you're one of the few Democrats who would do something to stop welfare fraud if you were in a position to do so.Doctor CamNC4Me wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2026 2:44 pmFaye Bernstein testified, cool, but that doesn’t prove her retaliation claims are verified facts or justify turning it into a partisan attack on Keith Ellison or Tim Walz without independent findings backing it up.

I would absolutely smoke the crap out of welfare fraudsters. Personal. Business. Farm. Whatever. I’d go ham on thieves.ajax18 wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2026 5:05 pmFor what it's worth, I think you're one of the few Democrats who would do something to stop welfare fraud if you were in a position to do so.Doctor CamNC4Me wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2026 2:44 pmFaye Bernstein testified, cool, but that doesn’t prove her retaliation claims are verified facts or justify turning it into a partisan attack on Keith Ellison or Tim Walz without independent findings backing it up.

Rule number 1: there are always people who commit fraud.Doctor CamNC4Me wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2026 9:59 pmI would absolutely smoke the crap out of welfare fraudsters. Personal. Business. Farm. Whatever. I’d go ham on thieves.
Rule number 2: it costs money to catch them.
Ajax's solution to fraud is to punish the innocent along with the guilty. The rational solution is to spend money in cost effective ways to reduce fraud. But Ajax hates government spending, so he can't approach fraud rationally. The claim that only a few Ds would take the rational approach to addressing fraud is a lie he tells himself to make him feel superior.

I think you are (deliberately?) missing the discussion generally that’s being had. Nobody is saying “All Republican politicians are bad and all Democratic politicians are good”. So pointing out examples of Democratic politicians with problematic behaviours isn’t taking the conversation anywhere.ajax18 wrote: ↑Fri May 01, 2026 2:29 pmThis week, Faye Bernstein, a 20-year Department of Human Services employee who was retaliated against for drawing attention to fraud, testified before the Fraud Committee.
As a member of the Legislative Audit Commission, I have had multiple whistleblowers contact me about being disciplined or fired for exposing fraud.
Ms. Bernstein was investigated, banned from DHS property, and slandered as a "racist" by DHS officials, simply for the act of calling out suspicious contract irregularities. This culture of silence within the DHS is reprehensible, and we are working to ensure that the officials who actively silenced whistleblowers are rooted out and fired.

Check out Ms. Bernstein's testimony. What do Democrats do when a whistleblower threatens to expose the fraud amongst their biggest campaign contributors? That's right. They say she's RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRacist. Party of the working class, what joke! They're the party of the political elites and the welfare/nonworking class. I guess in real life isn't much different than the response I get for exposing welfare fraud with kickbacks to Democrat politicians. There's only one rebuttal they know and it's always, "You're RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR Racist." Actually I hate welfare fraud from people of all races. Perhaps you're misinterpreting that because so many people and politicians who engage in welfare happen fraud to be black and happen to be Democrat.
The point is that Trump and his core cronies are corrupt, which they are. That Trump and his cronies are making terrible and incompetent decisions, which they are. That Trump and his cronies want to surround themselves with Yes men rather than strategic clear thinkers, which is what is happening. If you want to rebut that line of thinking, shouting “Yeah but that democrat over there ain’t so good!” is really a level of discussion best left in kindergarten.

Yeah, imagine being in the headspace where enforcing the law is a revelation. Of course I’d enforce via the state apparatus.canpakes wrote: ↑Sun May 03, 2026 12:39 amI’d wonder if any person frequenting this board would not feel the same.Doctor CamNC4Me wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2026 9:59 pmI would absolutely smoke the crap out of welfare fraudsters.
