Of course you're not the only one who gets pissed off by this kind of fraud! Any reasonable and moral person would be and should be. But Chap's point still stands. The fact that there will always inevitably be a few dishonest individuals trying to take unfair advantage of the system does not justify rejecting the very idea of universal health care. As Chap and numerous others have pointed out, universal healthcare costs much less overall than the current U.S. healthcare system, while demonstrably providing significantly better care for a significantly larger portion of the population. No one should have to choose between dying or becoming bankrupt and/or homeless because of a serious medical condition that was not their fault. Even the study funded by the notoriously conservative Koch brothers found that universal healthcare would both cost less, overall, and provide better results than our current healthcare system.

I didn't see anything in the original post about Universal Healthcare. I'm no fan of socialized anything but my post was about disability fraud and how common it is, not a debate on universal healthcare.

The lack of a single-payer option with Obamacare was an absolute windfall for insurance companies. You can pick just about any insurance company** and compare their dividend yields 8 years pre-Obamacare to everything post-Obamacare, and the increase is drastic. CEO compensations too.


**From what I recall from doing this comparison a few years ago, CIGNA was the only outlier as far as dividend yields were concerned. Coincidently, they also tended to have the lowest premium increases for consumers. Not sure if that's held true recently.

I’m fairly certain if the subgeniuses and Xanaxes of the world just had a Conservative explain to them it’d be cheaper and more cost-effective for everyone them in particular if we all pooled our money together to have a literal zero-cost-at-point-of-service they might flip. I'm glad we can agree on that! These people seem to add no value at all to health care (or at least not enough to justify the huge slice of 'health costs' they take for themselves), and I am surprised that Americans have put up with it for so long.
