Notice it is said that he's a flight risk. I totally believe that.
I am inclined to think that is a possibility.

Wonder where he might think of going, though, in such a case? Any serious suggestions?
Yes! I listed them on the old board! He owns properties in countries that have no extradition agreement with the U.S. As I recall, one was Arab Emirates. He's got a 6 month window of time (grand jury) to make up his mind. He can leave any time before that.

Chap your post instantly reminded me of a video I watched last night. Now, take this with a grain of salt, but I think it does have merit. Notice it is said that he's a flight risk. I totally believe that.

Just under 4 minutes.

Psychiatrist: ‘Donald Trump Is Delusional’ Even Out Of Office
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4IYLjabRr8s
Yes, I saw that too. I suspect that were he not the recently deposed but still influential President he is, he might have been committed to a psychiatric hospital by now (if not to prison).
My take is that this is all just a game he is playing. He knows the indictments are coming, and he is laying the groundwork now for the inevitable "Junior Soprano" defense of diminished mental capacity. That storyline, of course, was based on the real-life case of mobster Vincent "Chin" Gigante who was rather infamously arrested as he was wandering the streets in his bathrobe.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vincent_Gigante

Trump, of course, would be very familiar with the Chin's diminished-capacity ruse, as Trump and his father were business associates who had dealings with the Genovese crime family over the course of many decades.

Wow! I didn't know about any of that before. It's hard to imagine anyone as narcissistic as Trump ever wishing to pretend to be mentally ill or incapacitated, but I suppose it is possible that Trump is trying to set himself up for a "Vincent_Gigante" type defense, if he still possesses enough cognitive capacity or sense of reality to understand how deep is the legal jeopardy he finds himself in. It is hard to know how much (if any) of his obduracy might be due to mental illness or growing dementia, rather than just ordinary lust for power, wealth and adoration.

Would Trump really rather be perceived as demented or insane than wind up in prison due to criminal indictment and conviction? I don't know. If committing him to a mental hospital is the way to remove him from political power and relevance, I'll take it! There is, after all, more than just a little cause to suspect some kind of mental derangement going on with him. Whole books have been written about that already, to which numerous, respected mental health professionals have contributed.
No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

Ha! I didn't know about his defense! Little known fact: Vito Genovese grew up in the shore town next to the one I grew up in. As an adult he owned a mansion in the area. I drove by it almost every day of driver's ed. Kinda gave us the creeps.

Notice the last sentence on his death entry on wiki: Since Gigante's death, his family has continued to live well. According to a 2011 report by Jerry Capeci, Gigante's relatives earn nearly $2 million a year as gainful employees of companies on the New Jersey waterfront.

Oh yeah. I'm going to try to find out what those companies are and where. Could be anything from charter boats, restaurants, beach clubs (the Mafia owned the beach clubs), construction, or possibly hotels/casinos further down the Shore.

This is from 2021. Little bit of colorful language. You'll live from it. Yeah, the family is clean. They're all clean. Uh huh.

A friend in the family: Daughter of legendary mob boss Vincent ‘Chin’ Gigante requests leniency for turncoat nephew ahead of sentencing
The fruit of late Genovese crime family boss Vincent (Chin) Gigante’s twisted family tree is back for one last court date.

The Chin’s turncoat grandson, Vincent Fyfe, will return to Manhattan Federal Court for a Tuesday sentencing after cooperating with federal prosecutors against his half-uncle Vincent Esposito, who pleaded guilty to racketeering conspiracy in April 2019.

Fyfe’s testimony at a subsequent mob trial was attended by two of Esposito’s sisters, who denounced their nephew as a “piece of s--t” and glared at him with the “malocchio” — Italian for evil eye.

But his aunt Rita Gigante, a spiritual healing masseuse with her own New Jersey business, offered her support for Fyfe, 47, in a presentencing letter asking Manhattan Federal Court Judge Jed Rakoff for leniency.

I'm getting a little homesick... ;)

Heck yeah. I think he'd do anything to save his own hide then try to file appeal after appeal until the either succeeded or died from it.

I'll take it, too! Didn't that Sydney Powell woman say no reasonable person would believe the stuff she was saying? Didn't she talk about reinstatement in August just last week at a conference? I think so...

Dr. Dodes said something interesting: For Donald Trump to admit to himself that he lost, he would have to be capable of grieving his loss. Whether it is cause or effect, grief cannot exist inside Trump's bubble of narcissism. In Trump's world, grief and self-criticism are the tools of the weak. Donald Trump is always strong and never wrong.

If the Emperor has no clothes, he had to admit he's naked. Not gonna happen.

Yes! I listed them on the old board! He owns properties in countries that have no extradition agreement with the U.S. As I recall, one was Arab Emirates. There's a wiki on his property holdings I used to come up with the list, comparing it to another wiki with a list of those countries without extradition agreements with the U.S.

Somehow it would be appropriate if Trump were exiled to a sand trap.
