I’ve never lived in a place where I or anyone I knew felt the need to keep a loaded gun within reach for home defense. I’ve lived in a couple of US states, and in five other countries.

I’m really sorry for people who feel they need those loaded guns. I hope you realize that other places aren’t like that. Perhaps you could move?

I have not lived in the US, but apart from that I have certainly been internationally mobile, and the idea of living in a society where any paranoiac can wander around with a loaded assault rifle horrifies me. How US citizens can bear to live like that I cannot fathom.
