Petrucci is the reason people like Dream Theatre. It snice to see him step away from that band. I can't stand to listen to them myself. The lead singer is awful.
I listen to them purely for Petrucci and Myung. Great drummer and the keyboards rock, but yeah... There singer is in dire need of a stiff arm to the neck.

Ok, that's it... Metallica needs to just give up and retire. I've heard high school garage bands play the song better. Seriously, Hetfield just stands there with his wide leg "look at how much I wish I rocked still" pose. And what the hell was up with Lars and Kirk, did they show up doped to the gills on smack or have the finally just decided to say "meh, hell with it" and just wing their performance? Listen close to that and you can hear Lars loose the beat a couple of few times and Kirk kept botching his solos. I really pains me to see a brilliant bassist like Trujillo playing that far below his abilities too.

From a Time When Metal Ruled the World....

Def Leppard - Rocket
Skid Row - youth gone wild
Slaughter - Up All Night
I have so many great memories of Van Hagar. I absolutely loved these guys, and I got to see them on the Balance tour.
Van Halen - 5150
Poison - Fallen Angel
Whats great heavy metal without sychronized guitar playing while wearing matching white tassled leather outfits?
Warrant - Heaven
These guys were a cut above everyone else at the time. I think these guys paved the way for the sound of Stone Temple Pilots and Soundgarden.
The Cult - Sweet Soul Sister
I remember this song being so so huge when it hit. i think everyone I knew at the time had a copy of it.
Bon Jovi - You Give Love A Bad Name
AC/DC - Money Talks live at Donnigton
Judas Priest - A Touch Of Evil
Ozzy was great teamed up with Lita Ford.
Lita Ford And Ozzy Osbourne - Close My Eyes Forever
Kind of hard to pick which of these guys videos to show, not that I like the videos that much, but the songs are great.
Queensrÿche I don't believe in Love
Guns N Roses Paradise City
The Godfather of Metal
Ozzy Osbourne - I Just Want You

Def Leppard - Rocket
Skid Row - youth gone wild
Slaughter - Up All Night

Gaz, you do realize that only two of the bands/songs you mentioned actually qualify as "Metal" and the rest are are shades of "rock" and "hard rock", right? Also, Beavis and Butthead diss'd the hell out of Def Leppard, Skid Row, Slaughter, only like Warrent because of the "Cherry pie" video (and not the song, just the hottie in the vid), though The Cult was gay (they rock, but they are not metal, dude), and hated Bon Jovi. Lita Ford and Ozzie's "Close My Eyes Forever" is quite possibly the single lamest love ballad of the 1980s (Seriously, that song sucked), and Ozzy himself is another case of "I liked him better when he was strung out on smack".
Queensryche rocks though. However, that song isn't even close to being an example of their best.
Judas priest just plain WTFPWNS though. Breakin' the law, breakin' the law....

Re: Shady Acres Jukebox
Well we can bicker and argue over whats metal till the cows come home. And yes Im well aware of how poison and Warrant are lesser bands, but they were in fact fun and they had their moments, even if they will never ever be taken as seriously as Judas Priest and Ozzy. And why is it that someone like John Bonham can die in his prime, while a moron like Brett Michaels lives on to create a monstrosity like "Rock of Love"?
Well that whole rock scene ended in 1992 with one guitar riff...

Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit
Pearl Jam - Evenflow
Soundgarden - Outshined

Tool - Stinkfist
Rage Against The Machine - Sleep Now In The Fire

Alice in Chains - Would
Nine Inch Nails - Down in it
Smashing Pumpkins - Cherub Rock
Korn - Blind
Hard to believe that many of these songs came out the same year as some of the hair metal listed above
