Re: The Constitutional Crisis Thread
I thought I read on this board, where someone said there are 5 groups working on impeachment, though I couldn't find the remark in search results here. Is this true? If so, what is the status of any of these groups and are there grounds for impeachment right now?

Don't know if it 5 groups, but do know some individuals are looking at it.

I thought I read that here on MDB. Never mind, I'm obviously talking out my butt over here.

That's news to me.

Another data point: With certain specified exceptions, all valid immigrant and nonimmigrant visas for citizens of the seven countries listed in the executive order have been revoked. I haven't had time to run down what the exceptions are and exactly what the ramifications are. But, if you are a citizen of one of the seven countries and you entered legally on a visa, your visa is gone.

Revoked for how long? For the duration of the executive order? Can he extend the executive order?
Aren't there students on student visas who attend school over here? So spring semester is now shot to hell?

hang on.
when were they revoked? that was not in the executive order if i recall. was that done before or after the executive order?
as i understood it, the visas were still outstanding or issued but that for 120 days, no travel or entry.
when were they revoked and is that permanent?

No. Revoked, period. As in, "you don't have a Visa anymore." I don't have time right now to run this down, but I will do it when I can.

A copy of the order was filed as an exhibit in one of the lawsuits. It says it was done pursuant to the executive order and at the request of Homeland Security. You are correct in what the executive order says.
It's a little weaselly, as it says "provisionally revoked," whatever the hell that means.

Find out if they can apply for waivers. Just off the top of my head, this affects students, docs doing internships over here, university professors, scientists, members of the business community.
